Our friends and us stayed at 1802 House at the start of our Maine trip. Our hosts were helpful, welcoming, acommodating, knowledgeable about many aspects of the region and happy to share with us helpful tips. The facility is very pleasant and clearly reflects the desire of the hosts to do all they can to ensure a pleasant stay. It is in pleasnt, grassy, riverine surroundings. The hosts are relatively new owners and are clearly striving to improve an already excellent place and send it to the next level. Now even if all of the other things weren't true, which, of course they are, it would still be worth coming to 1802 to experience the breakfast. It was fabulous, and we were treated to a fabulous fruit cup, with magically cinamon sweetened yogurt. This was followed with a generous slice of ham, as well as a "Yankee" scramble with potato and eggs. We were also treated to a freshly baked banana nut bread loaf, which was sliced and wrapped for us to take along for our trip. Our trip was then graced by the aroma of that incredible-tasting bread for hours into the morning after we left -- too soon, too soon. We recommend 1802 unqualifiedly.

This is a very nice inn and it is close to the center of the town and the scenic drives. We stayed in the Windsor room for 2 nights recently. Linda and Jay are great and the breakfasts are very good. The only thing that could make it better is if the tvs were a bit bigger. Other than that the rooms are very nice. We would definitely return on another trip.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights over New Year's at the 1802 House, professionally and personably run by Linda and Jay. This B&B is in a very quiet neighborhood and just a 5-10 minute walk to "downtown."
We had the York Room, small but reasonably priced and cozy.
On New Year's Eve, Linda made very tasty hors d-oeuvres (free!) . We asked them to chill our champagne; later, when I went to pick it up, Jay insisted on bringing it up to our bathroom, jacuzzi-side. :-)
Everything is very clean.
Breakfast is excellent: hearty but healthy, and you can have your yummy, freshly baked goods wrapped up to fortify you later in the day.
New Year's Day was great: a four-course breakfast at 11 a.m. and checkout whenever.
Linda and Jay mentioned that they've applied for a liquor license, which they should receive soon.
One minor gripe: considering that everything else is wonderful, what's up with the single-ply toilet paper? Top-notch TP is pretty cheap at discounters, and I'm sure B&B proprietors can purchase at a discount. :-)
Far more importantly, however, Jay and Linda are extremely resourceful, down-to-earth, and helpful owners. Their B&B is first-class!
We will return. :-)

“A great experience”

1802 House Bed and Breakfast Inn

Jay and Linda are great hosts - we arrived early and were allowed to go ahead and check in. Jay provided us with a map and then spent about 15 minutes highlighting great places to see. They made our dinner reservations for Pier 77 and it was a great experience as well.
Breakfast was wonderful - and Jay provided great stories about the inn.
The b&B is well decorated, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Our shower was the best - two shower heads with lots of water pressure - I almost missed breakfast.
We look forward to returning soon!

“Kansas City couple visits Maine”

1802 House Bed and Breakfast Inn

10 Sep 2007

My wife and I were very impressed with the experience of staying at the 1802 INN. Jay and Linda are a very knowledgeable, intelligent and attractive happy couple who did work hard to make our visit an enjoyable one. They are very connected with what is going on in town and are able to direct you to excellent restaurants and activities that are available. We don't normally eat breakfast, but had to at this inn; the meals were just too good to pass up. Although Jay and Linda have just been owners for a few months, it appears that they were doing this for years. The accommodations were superb. The beds are excellent!!!....not what I would have expected.
