My fiance and I are in the process of planniing our honeymoon to Maine for the week of February 11th-February 16th, 2007.
After researching several bed and breakfasts in Bar Harbor, we decided to contact The Collier House B&B. I was apalled by the unprofessional way that inn keeper, George Clemens, spoke to me when I called to inquire about the inn.
First of all, when he answered the phone, he gave no indication that I had called a business. He just answered "Hello". I had to ask if I was calling The Collier House.
Second, every book and website we have researched, including their own website, shows that they are open year-round, but doesn't specify which months fall in to which season (February being early spring?). When I called the inn, I asked George if they would be open February 14th through the 17th. He said he didn't know and asked me if it was the week of Presidents Day. I advised him I wasn't sure, but that it was the week of Valentine's day. He said he would check the books and then told me he still wasn't sure. I asked if there was anyway to find out. He said they close a week in February, but wasn't sure when?? I asked what if we made reservations online and they ended up closing. He stated that we would have to leave early if it was during our stay. I advised him we would just find another location and he Hung Up On Me!!!
I would not have even considered staying here even if they were open during the time we were looking to stay.
Very unprossional and not friendly like an inn keeper should be!
