I recently stayed at the Jordan Grand Resort at Sunday River. The hotel itself is right on the trail Lollapaluza on the Jordan bowl portion of the mountain. You can literally ski right out the back door. This was the best part of staying at this hotel.
I booked a mid week package that included the tickets, a perfect turn lesson, the room and breakfast each morning.
The room was on the second floor right off the lobby. Man was it noisy. We could hear every conversation that was going on as people stomped by the room at all hours of the night. They’re where so many teens running around I thought I had gone back to summer camp. It was awful. The room appeared clean but had a very strong cleaning solution smell. We had a stove, fridge and dishwasher along with all the utensils that went along with it. The bed was a pull down Murphy bed. The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. The couch pulled out to a bed and rivaled the Murphy bed for the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. If you are looking for a 4 star room do not stay at the Jordan Grand. The room would be closer to a Motel 6.
The breakfast was buffet style. It featured fresh fruit and yogurt. Hot cereal, eggs, bacon and sausage and several other choices as well. It was adequate. There are 3 restaurants in the hotel. I had the breakfast and a late night snack (FF)at the Northern lights, which was good, expensive but good.
The outdoor pool was a nice set up. You entered and exited the pool from inside the hotel. However, screaming teenagers left to their own devices by their parents inundated the pool. There must have been 15-20 of them in there at all times. There is not enough chlorine in the world to clean the bacteria that must have been in that pool. Gross!
The staff was very nice and friendly. From the Girls at the front desk to Malcolm at the ski check, everyone had a smile and aimed to please!
The hotel is part of the way up the mountain therefore it requires a little drive up a bumpy mountain road. No big deal. I had read on this site that the parking was a problem. I had no problem with that either. You could park right at the door to load or unload any time you wanted. The Gentleman working the doors were very accommodating.
In closing I would say if you want to be right on the mountain with ski out the back door options this is your place. If you are looking for a cozy quiet ski get away this is defiantly not your destination of choice.
