I stayed here for a weekend in February 2006. It was a wonderful time.

The Jordan is on the far right side of the Sunday River Ski Area, so it is a few miles more to get there. I arrived there at about 7pm Friday night, and the place was gorgeous lit up in the night sky. The lobby was very impressive: fireplace, lots of seating, wood trim, nice wall-to-wall-carpet. The staff were VERY busy when I checked-in, yet they did thank us for being patient. I liked how they acknowledged our patience. Jonathan waited on us.

We had booked two rooms, and requested them as close as possible. They were about three doors down from each other. That was fine. It's not like we HAD to have the adjoining door or anything. We're all grown adults. The rooms were clean and average-sized. The people in the 2nd room swore their room was smaller, but I don't know what they were talking about.

I could go on forever, so I'll try to sum this up. Notable things were 1) The ski checker that watched our skis while we had lunch. 2) The indoor/outdoor pool... that was fun, because you could swim and GET SNOW IN YOUR HAIR! It was very strange to swim outside during while it was snowing. That was probably the most memorable thing. And it didn't even feel cold because the water was super warm! 3) There was also a game room and a fitness room, but I had no use for these. Skiing was my fitness for this weekend.

I've been to Sunday River several times, yet this was my first time at the Jordan Resort. I would definitely go back there. The pool made the difference, in my opinion.

My husband and I stayed at the Jordan for 2 nights in March, 2005.

The Good:
The location on the mountain is wonderful. It is so convienent to ski down to the lift right from the hotel's back door. The year round outdoor heated pool was great-very warm. T

The Bad:
The hotel room/suite was dated and not very clean. The hot tub(s) were not working properly-they were only luke warm, which is disappointing when you have skied all day and want to relax. There were a lot of unsupervised children/teenagers at the pool and running down the halls which got really annoying.

Overall, the Jordan was an average hotel. It is definitely in need of some updates. I would stay there again if the price was right-but I guess I expected much more.

“Poor Service, would never recommend to anyone!”

Jordan Grand Resort Hotel and Conference Center

We spent a weekend at the Jordan Grand Hotel in mid-March '05 to ski at Sunday River Ski resort. The hotel is located 'mid-mountain' and can only be accessed via a 5 mile drive along a badly paved road.

The official parking lot for the hotel is not paved and is located a considerable distance from the hotel itself; there is no shuttle service from the ‘mud and puddle’ lot to the hotel. We, like most guests parked along the driveway to the hotel, to avoid the long walk. The driveway turned out to be a fire lane, and after two days and nights, parked in the same location, our car was towed without warning (despite the hotel having our car reg and contact number on file). The front desk manager lied about the car being located at the towing company's yard in Bethel, until we paid the $50 release fee! She then told us it was just moved to the lower parking lot. Having spoken to other guests who’s car was also towed, we found out she waived their fee so we demanded ours be refunded too - which it promptly was.
We were irritated that:
1) We were not warned or asked to move it (leading us to believe it was ok to park where we were).
2) The manager lied about the vehicle's location until payment was received.
3) The manager did not treat all guests the same, some she charged, others she did not.
4) The hotel did not provide a closer, paved parking lot or a shuttle from the lot.

Other things that I didn't like about the resort:

If you plan on arriving before 6:00PM, don't expect your room to be ready - we witnessed a lot of families will young children having to wait until 6pm before they could check in. A lot of families claimed to have arranged for early check in which was not honored by the hotel.

If you plan on arriving after 11:30PM, don't expect a valet for ski equipment, you will have to carry them up one floor to the storage room and wait for hotel security to store them away.

The hotel layout is poor. Rooms are located off a single corridor which takes 5 minutes to walk end to end. If your room is located at or near the end of this corridor expect a long walk in your ski boots to the ski storage area which is located on the second floor near the lobby entrance.

The studio units have a pull out sofa bed and a pull down Murphy bed. They are basic in style and function and we found ours to be clean albeit space. Our unit did not have a coffee maker, although one was brought when we requested it.

The hotel charges $35 for any check out later than 10:30AM.

Guests are allowed use the pool and hot tub facilities after checking out which is useful if you plan to ski on your last day. However, the locker area is tiny. The lockers themselves are also tiny - they cannot hold more that two ski boots!

Overall I disliked this hotel because it is over priced for what it is and what it claims to be. It charges 5 star prices for a 2 star service. If I were ever to come back to this area, I would try and find a local Inn or B&B to stay at rather than stay at the Grand Jordan again.

On the plus side - the skiing was great!

“Wonderful ski vacation”

Jordan Grand Resort Hotel and Conference Center

On a recent mid-week ski vacation at Sunday River, we stayed at the Jordan Hotel. We found the accomodations very nice, the staff very friendly and helpful. Some find this hotel location out of the way, but we loved the views and the quietness. The outdoor pool and spas were wonderful after a day of skiing. The trails used to ski in and out were wonderfully groomed and very quiet for the first few hours in the morniing ... the best skiing time for us. Traversing the mountain over groomed trails, we were over to the main base lodge and enjoying many more trails and lifts. Shuttles were available for those who did not wish to ski across or drive over to the main lift area. We would return to the Jordan in a heartbeat for more winter fun.

“not worth the 5 mile drive”

Jordan Grand Resort Hotel and Conference Center

The Jordan Grand Hotel sounds grand on paper, but is not worth the extra 5 mile drive on the isolated access road. It's a new property, but the place is very homogenous and rather "dorm-like." The amenities were fine, but it didn't have any sort of ski resort charm.
