My wife and I stayed here from June 1st through June 3rd. The inn was surrounded by lush and fragrant gardens the beauty of which we had not experienced in ages. We were pleasantly greeted by Doug, one of the innkeepers. Check-in was swift and cordial, and Doug was most gracious at orienting us to the inn’s many intricacies as well as area restaurants.
We had the Anna-Marie room, with a fantastic ocean view and we left the windows open to allow the nice cool sea breezes in. We slept very well each night. Doug gracefully honored our request for a breakfast without eggs by making the most delicious blueberry pancakes we’ve had in ages. At breakfast, we met Andy, a lively, entertaining, and funny host. The delicious breakfast and lively entertaining conversation was a terrific way to start the day.
My wife, normally a night owl not an early riser, got up early to take a spectacular photo of the sunrise from the Lookout.
Among the inn’s many features were its location just a short step from the Marginal Way. We walked this scenic path to Perkins Cove and also to the town center. We ate at a lobster pound in adjacent Cape Neddick and enjoyed its shore dinner. We also ate at 98 Provence which had fine food in a delightfully romantic setting.
When we had to move on, to Camden and Freeport later in our vacation, we actually left Rockmere wishing we could have stayed longer. Andy and Doug were the nicest hosts you could hope for. We will be visiting Ogunquit again in the future and staying at the Rockmere- we liked Ogunquit and Rockmere that much.
