Full disclosure: I used to live in Tokyo so am picky, picky, picky about sushi.
I think we visited on an off-night, but am giving it 4 stars anyway....I'll have to go back and try again.
Here is what happened: My husband was noticing the sushi was falling apart (i.e. the rice wasn't sticking together), this made him dislike the quality. Meanwhile I was eating kitsune udon and was in heaven------very high quality.
The restaurant had many empty tables yet I saw them turning away walk-ins. I did not understand this so asked our waitress who said, "oh we are running out of sushi-rice so have to turn people away".
Well that certainly explained my husband's falling-apart-sushi! But it sure would have been nice if we'd been told of the problem before we sat down to eat.
Our waitress was very nice but overly chatty. I know this is a matter of taste------I realize many diners enjoy chatting with the waiter but my husband and I go out to enjoy one another's company and aren't into chatting with the help.
We'd have to go back to this place to really give it a fair star-rating. But I'm still giving it the 4 based on my udon (the chef sure knows what she's doing) and the fact it sounds like it was an off-night. A more Japanese-style service (i.e. less chat from the waitress) would enhance the experience.
