We just returned from a quiet, relaxing weekend at Inn Britannia in Searsport, Maine. A great getaway after a few days in Boston, to the quiet countryside of Searsport. Inn Britannia makes you feel like you've stepped into the English countryside. We stayed in the wonderfully, spacious and warm Windsor suite with an entry area furnished with a small table. Off the entry area you have the luxurious master bath with an incredible clawfoot tub, complete with candle, bath salts, and wine glass holder. The bath also includes two pedestal sinks and a wonderful showerhead in the shower. (More luxurious tub and shower than I've had in top rated hotels!!!!!!) Then you enter the spacious, but cozy bedroom - - complete with your own gas stove, bay window with a peek of the bay, chaise lounge chair and wonderful antique queen size bed.

After a restful nights sleep you are greeted the next morning with an incredible breakfast - - not any skimpy, ordinary eat and run breakfast. Again, a wonderful touch of old English with your own tea pot including a "tea cozy" to keep it warm and delicious breakfast selections served on English chinz china. Innkeepers Caren and Susan are delightful and offer wonderful suggestions for things to do/see in the area.

Inn Britannia is a MUST SEE and EXPERIENCE to appreciate. Check out their website for good descriptions of rooms and other specials during holidays and other events!!

We LOVED it and will return!!!!!!

We just enjoyed our second Thanksgiving at Inn Britannia, and are already looking forward to next year. The innkeepers, Caren and Susan, are such warm and gracious hosts, they make their guests feel like family. They do everything so beautifully, and make it seem effortless. The other guests are congenial and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Food is SUPERB, paired with great wines, and sherry is available for an aperitif or a bedtime treat. The inn allows dogs in a couple of its rooms, so our standard poodle was happy and comfortable in our room. The coast of Maine is a wonderful place to visit, with beautiful vistas and terrific shopping. There's more to do in the summer, of course, but even in November there are state parks to hike in, lovely little villages to explore, etc. We wholeheartedly recommend this inn to anyone who wants a relaxing, laidback vacation.

“Enchanted Inn And Pets Welcome”

Enchanted Inn and pets welcome!
Nestled in a Sherwood-like forest of blue spruce, white pine, elm and oak, the Inn Britannia is like stepping into another world. From the walkways of English gardens, to the elegant tea room, tables set in lace, fresh flowers and tea services of Chinaware to die for, warmed in the glow of a wood fire in the huge fireplace, to the guest rooms done in British themes, so authentic,(right down to heated towel racks) I feel I am in Brighten, London, Nottingham, or Dover. And ever had a full English Breakfast? Pure Heaven! with fresh eggs from the Inn's hen house, popovers, fresh berries and fruits.
This has been my third stay at the Inn Britannia and each time it becomes more enchanting. Sometimes I visit the guest rooms available, simply to enjoy the antiques, the wonderful choices of color and decor, the collectibles, all brought back from Great Britain by the owners. The casual elegance is relaxing. Privacy is the best I've encounted over the years of staying in B&Bs and inns. Yet, there are several little nooks and getaways. There is wonderful game/den/TV/movie/computer room, a great place for the kids, or parents checking in on the computer. The living room is cushy and comfortable (read by the fireplace), the garden benches and hammocks are inviting and walks in the woods to the beach are a must.
A special plus is: the Inn takes pets. I stay with my dog in the London room, most cozy, done in burgundy and gold, with white trim, a queen- sized brass bed, piled with plush pillows, (one can never have enough pillows), a pedestal sink and lovely bath/shower, with the heated towel racks (but of course). The decoration and memorabilia are all from London and quite charming. There is a private front entry way for me and my buddy, the dog, a back door with mud a room leading out to a private deck. A fenced dog run is also available out back. The pathways through the woods are lovely dog-walks. Dogs are also welcome in the studio/guest room up stairs. It is equipped with a full kitchen, sleeps five or six, has wi-fi, cable, everything the other rooms have. I plan to stay there on my next trip, however, I am told that this studio is very popular with families, who stay over weeks at at time, and I should make reservations in a bit more in advance.
Overall, the Inn Britannia is a delight. From a sumptuous breakfast, to a good complimentary wine, port or sherry by the fire in the evening. It's close to everything Maine, water sports, hunting, birdwatching, hiking. and you can't beat the prices. My London room was $125.00 and I could not ask for more comfort, hospitality, amenities, dog-comfort, food (good heavens, you won't eat again until the evening), and rare, excellent service from caring hosts. The problem we had with our stay at Inn Britannia was that it was too short! It was the first time for our daughter (3 yo) to stay at a B&B, and we had no idea whether she would enjoy it, it turned out she had a great time, and so did we. We stayed in the "housekeeping" apartment, which we highly recommend for small families - there is plenty of space to stretch out, and for our daughter to run around while we were inside; you also get a lot of privacy, everything you need is in the apartment - stove, refrigerator, books, games, TV, Wi-Fi ....if you decide to stay in; we actually spent a lot of time just relaxing in the garden, which was beautiful. We would lay in the hammock, and our daughter would be just fascinated watching the chickens that the innkeepers Susan and Karen have (fresh eggs for breakfast!), Karen even let her hold an egg that was still warm, and she dropped it....Although breakfasts were not included for apartment guests, once we heard about the dishes made with fresh eggs, we actually paid to have breakfast in the dining room on two mornings, and they were so good - those eggs tasted so much better than the ones from stores, and those freshly baked muffins......With our daughter being so young, we didn't really try to go everywhere and see everything on this trip, and we felt there was so much more that we hadn't explored in Maine - if we get to go back, I know where we'll be staying.

We stayed at Inn Britannia for a long weekend last month, ever since we got back I've been thinking: when can we go again? We came upon Inn Britannia while "googling" for a place to stay for our trip, and were intrigued by its English theme. The innkeeper (Caren) was very friendly on the phone, and explained the features of each room for us in great detail - we made the reservation right away and we were not disappointed! Caren and Susan made everything so wonderful for us - our room was clean, cozy and "very English", breakfasts were simply delicious, even decadent - for someone like me who normally skips breakfast, the garden was in full bloom and just beautiful - I was happy to just stay at the inn and relax. On the days we decided to explore the area, they gave us several nice suggestions on what to do and what to see, along with those moist cookies which we enjoyed on our way to Acadia National Park. I think next year we'll be back to see the fall colors.....
