We were delighted when we arrived at the Inn Britannia this past Sunday and were warmly met by Caren and Susan despite the early January cold and snow outside. We immediately felt as comfortable as if we were staying with good friends. Caren and Susan were wonderful hosts and lovely people and made our three night stay in Searsport absolutely perfect.
We enjoyed staying in the London room very much. It was cozy and quite pretty. We took a tour of all of the rooms and were impressed by how lovely the rooms are and by the wonderful antiques and British memorabiliia throughout the Inn. We especially liked the displays of english china and the teapot collections. Absolutely lovely.
The hidden gems (for animal lovers) of this place are their wonderful cats and dog (Turtle) who will readily adopt you. We were quite happy to spend some time being entertained by the antics of Gerald, Turtle, Zoe, and Harry. (By the way, Turtle understands everything you say.)
Our first night was extremely special as we had an incredible dinner of steak and ale with yorkshire pudding (these gals are gourmet cooks). We were so full we could not finish our desserts!
The breakfasts were truly wonderful. We were pleasantly stuffed. The house breakfast special is unique (we won't spoil the surprise by describing it) and Queen Victoria's pancake was scrumptious (but my husband says be sure to ask for Warren's bacon which has apparently now been named after him!)
When you want to stay at a B&B in mid-coast Maine we can't think of a better place than Inn Britannia. We have stayed at our share of inns and the Inn Britannia is by far one of the nicest. We can't wait to to come back to visit again soon!
