My husband and I chose this inn based on the fact that at the time, it was one of the few in the area that claimed to have air conditioning. Ha! We had this tiny air conditioner in our room, which did not cool the room off at all.

Furthermore, the bathroom was grossly outdated, without the benefit of any character,(circa. 1950's.)
There was an interesting skylight above the tub, but it was full of dust and dead bugs! Ew!

The owner was not very friendly, and she served a horrible breakfast, which only one of her guest rooms stayed to eat. When we asked her for recommendations for dinner, she told us, but not only failed to make reservations for us, but would not allow us to use her phone to do so!

The website for this place is deceiving. Beware...

Nancy-Lynn was the most wonderful, lively host. Her B&B was as warm and cheerful as can be. We met several other guests and enjoyed their company, at breakfast and relaxing on the pourch in the evening. May I mention that her breakfasts where a great start for the day. My wife and I would consider a return trip if in that area of Maine again.

I personally stayed at Watchide for the first time this summer. My parents had stayed there a couple of summers ago and based on how they raved, I had high expectations for my visit. Nancy and her lovely home surpassed every one of them. Form the moment we walked in the door she treated us like we were long lost friends. The rooms are cozy and beautifully decorated in period decor. The little touches such as turn down service, aloe lotion and Nan's crans in every way make you feel sepcial and pampered. Nancy is extremely knowledgeable abouth the area. She has menus of all of the surrounding resturants and she was aloways right on the money. The food and service at all of the places she recommended was wonderful and the surroundding area has some of the best seafood ever. Speaking of food, lets not leave out Nancy's wonderful breakfasts. She is extremely accomodating, making sure that all dietary needs were accomodated. Each morning, my family and I were greeted by a wonderfully presented and yummy 3 course breakfast, presented on the huge sun porch. At night, teh sun porch was a great place to curl up with a book and cup of tea or coffee that was always available. When it came time to leave, I didn't want to go. I was hoping to stay and allow Nancy to spoil me some more. I will definatly return to 1794 Watchtide by the Sea for some relaxtion and pampering from Nancy soon.

The Watch Tide is very charming. It is also very old. If you like old and charming and lots of anitques and a lovely setting from the sunporch this is for you. There was antique wicker furniture on the porch and a family room with an overstuffed sofa. The Inn is very casual and every one in the Inn seemed to get along well and have a good time. The owner served delicious breakfasts and was very helpful. She sent all of us to fun restaurants if we wanted casual, and gourmet restaurants, yes there is one in Searport,if you wanted gourmet.
There are also some upscale antique stores.
If you want the luxury of the Ritz this is not for you but if you want an informal country get-a-way by the sea you will like it.

“Tantalizingly close to Heaven”

My partner and I stayed at/in and around the Eleanor Roosevelt Suit.
We were awestruck by the sheer size of the 100-gal bathtub jacuzzi combo and delighted with our incredibly comfortable king-sized bed.
The room's charm and warmth provided a sense of welcome and security as only felt in the most hospitible of places.
There was a magnificent view of the sunrise awaiting those willing to sacrifice precious hours of sleep for natures beauty. We did.

And then... there was Breakfast!

A capital 'b' for Breakfast is needed when describing "Watchtide-cuisine".
We were greeted by a magnificently set table and a gorgeous view of the splendily kept gardens and the ocean, from our vantage point on the sun-porch. All three courses of our meal were divine. (Thoughtfully presented and genialy accepted)!

So, the room was clean and welcoming, (as was the rest of the Inn) the hostess was kind and helpful (she set up reservations for us) and Breakfast was to die for!

All in all... the very best Inn, we've EVER stayed at.
