The hotel sits on a hill overlooking the Portland Mall. We were greeted by a bellhop upon arrival. The front desk staff was very friendly. I was given a room on the concierge level floor(2nd floor).Don't be alarmed if you don't receive one of these rooms as my experience has been that most rooms are uniform throughout the hotel.The concierge lounge is closed from Friday evening until Sunday evening but there are tables and chairs and a T.V. if you want to relax in the lounge while it is closed. The hotel offers a shuttle to the Airport and Mall. You may order items off the breakfast menu or choose 3 different styles of buffets' the hotel offers; a continental breakfast of breads and pastries,coffee;a more elaborate continental breakfast offering yogurts, fruits and cereals; and the complete buffet which offers, well, everything. I did have lunch and dinner and both offered daily specials as well as the usual Marriott offerings. The bar/lounge area is connected to the restaurant. The rooms are a little larger than average. The beds are perhaps the most comfortable I have slept on at any Marriott hotel. The bathroom is large and well lit. A/C and heating unit was quiet even though it is one of the older style models. There is a minibar in the room. There was a desk with wireless WiFi available and unlimited calls throughout the U.S. for $9.95 per day. Interstate access, shopping and eating are within minutes of the hotel. The waterfront is a 10-15 minute drive. The hotel offers various shopping special rates, so it might be best to call the hotel directly to see what they have to offer. All in all, one of the better hotels in the Portland Maine area.

We just returned for an overnight stay at Sable Oaks. We were suppose to be there longer but cut our visit short partially because of the hotel itself.
The property and lobby are lovely. Our desk clerk was courteous but not nearly as welcoming to us as she was to the business man she checked in before us.
We stayed on the top floor ( which we requested ) They put us next to the elevator which only stopped running between 1 and 4 AM. It was loud !!!!!!!!
The cleaning staff had not dusted the room. The desk area was covered with what looked like donut crumbs. There were corner cobwebs ceiling and floor.
The bed was comfortable but the pillows were horrible. They were huge and looked nice on the bed but were impossible to sleep on.
All and all were were very disappointed in what we had expected to be highly reguarded hotel. We will not be back.

We stayed at the Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks the weekend of 8/18/06. We found a great rate and we were very pleased with this hotel. The breakfast buffet was actually reasonably priced with a great selection of buffett style and made to order breakfast favorites. We had a king size bed and the bed was very comfortable, the room was clean, the bathroom was clean, , the bathroom was big, the location is convienient to everything in the area. Downtown Portland and all major road ways points north and south are only about a 5 minute drive. We were very pleased with the staff and service. We will stay at this hotel again!

I will definitely stay here again. The front desk personnel were very nice, the room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel is conveniently located near the airport.

This hotel was very nice. It had a nice decor and was very clean. I pretty much expect this from a Marriot and such was the case this time. I did have a negative experience regarding food at the hotel (room service and rest.) but that is typical for hotels, I think. I also didn't appriciate booking a king and being given 2 doubles, but I think that happens everywhere now and again. The room was nice, very clean and attractive and the location is great near many shops and rest. I would stay here again, just not eat there.
