The Baird Tavern is a beautifully maintained historic home in rural Blandford, Massachusetts, just west of the Berkshires and east of Pioneer Valley. So many things are less than an hour away - Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, fun North Hampton, Amherst with the Emily Dickinson House, Shakespeare and Company, or the local Maple Corner Farm, the Appalachian Trail, antique shops, Noble View hiking, and so much more.
Yet, just settling into this immaculately cared for historic B&B is enough - if it's winter or early spring, Carolyn will have a fire going in the downstairs fireplace, a wonderful spot to sit and read or chat. In summer, her lovely garden calls for a walk and relaxation.
You won't find cable (though DVDs are plenty), but why would you want it? You will find a genial host, beautiful antiques, some history if you want it, and the most splendid breakfasts. Carolyn's (wild) blueberry pancakes are awesome. The whole breakfast is generous and most delicious - and served either in the dining room or her kitchen - with the wood burning stove going if needed. There will be local maple syrup and Carolyn's apple butter, made by her from her own applies! You might see turkey strutting by or all manner of birds outside her window.
It's a place to slow down and relax. Try it.
