“We loved our stay!”

Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club

We booked our stay on Expedia. It was called "run of the house" and it was very reasonable. Due to the reasonable price we were a little worried about what we would get. We kept bracing ourselves for a "dive hotel" But...much to our surprise when we checked in we found a wonderful villa in Arbor Village. It was well into the developement, on a golf course. We had a one bedroom condo with laundry, kitchen, etc. They provided laundry soap and dish soap. We loved the location, very central to the entire cape. We went down to Provincetown one day, to Nantucket one day and explored the rest of the cape while there. The Wellfleet Oyster festival was happening while we were there so we went there too. We ate breakfast in our room each morning...we usually like a light breakfast of yogurt and fruit, maybe some cereal. So this was convenient for us. We did not cook larger meals but ate out at the Fish House and Chillingsworth both were top notch but maybe a little pricey. We thought it was worth the money though. Maybe not great if you have kids. None of the places we ate had kids menues and they would probably be too limited for most children. They had starbucks coffee in the room which we liked. We found the staff to be excellent. They checked us in early and had suggestions for things to do. We had a rental car, so used it to get around. They did tell us that we could use the shuttle which would be around in about 5 minutes. Our room was secluded and quiet. We slept great. We would definately stay here again. For us...it was great.

Our first stay 3 years ago was perfect....our weekend on 10/8 and 10/9 was a disaster..
.I had requested a handicapped room.
Registration has no accommodation for the handicapped....no ramp and terrible stairs and cobblestones.
Our room had stairs in front of the building, but no railings.
the handicapped parking place was 5 places away with a long steep walkway to our room....walking up hill was difficult, but if you were wheel chair bound it would have been very taxing.
The villa was adequate only....the bed was too high and the space between the bed and dresser was very narrow...the hot water heater was in the closet, but no luggage racks..
..the bathroom was OK, but only one bar of soap..
.the kitchen had no microwave oven, and no oven, and not enought flatware for 4.
The living room had a couch and only l chair and a very tall table with stools....not appropriate for anyone who is handicapped.
the chair at the desk was very uncomfortable. The hotel charges over $25.00 a night for taxes and services....We received no services except houskeeping which is standard.
We ate at the Lynx and the food and service was very good.
We were very disappointed overall as 3 years ago breakfast was included and the villa more accommodating and comfortable..

We stayed here for 4 nights and were very pleasantly surpised by the Resort.
Yes, it is large and sprawling but that is what a resort is. We stayed at the arbor Village; downside - a drive from the beach, upside - very close to the best pool on the site which suited the children.
Our spacious 1 bed apartment was on the ground floor and very smart. It was blissful walking out of the french windows on to the well kept grounds. We used the sofa bed which was fine.
The only problem with four in the room was the equipment. It did not cater for 4 and there was insufficient everything; chairs, glasses, plates, etc. At supper we had to bring the patio furniture inside for the children to eat at the coffee table!
The room service we could not fault. In fact they were a little too efficient and kept putting away the sofa bed which we had to remake when we got back. They loaded the dishwasher and replaced the washing powder. The beach/ pool service was great too, offering chairs, foot rests, towells & umberellas
The real godsend for our touring holiday was the laundry facilities which were wonderful. A small cupboard in the Sitting Room contained a top loader washing machine and a small tumble dryer. Coupled with the excellent beach/pool towell service this made this mother's life much more like a holiday.
We did not mind the reliance on the car to get around at all. We discovered Chatham (easy journey), the Brewster bike hire (much, much cheaper than the resorts!) and the local food and fish markets so I chose to cook (but see above for gripe about equipment).
For families there seemed to be an endless supply of activities which we would have loved to have the time to join in had we been spending longer here. The beach campfire with s'mores (is that how you spell it?) was a great taste of US for some bewildered Brits.
A number of disappointments were:
- Reception staff behind a high and forbidding desk who acted very superior. A stark contrast with the bell 'boys' who were very well mannered, groomed and spoken.
- Very expensive restaurants although the food was very good especially the breakfasts. We ate out or self catered after the first shocking bill.
- Brouchure not up to date. My 12 year old son was extremely disappointed to find the Junior Golf School not running.. when we turned up on the allotted morning.
- Petrol golf buggies. These are noisy, smelly and certainly not envionmentally friendly, especailly when there a lot of them, which there tend to be on a golf resort.
and finally...
- the damp. Our apartment had a dehumidifier and an air conditioning unit which I found a strange combination. It smelt damp and most things in it were ever so slighly damp too. But I put it down to location and did not notice too much after the first 5 minutes.

After all that, would we return? Absolutely, yes.

We booked to stay at the OE for 1 night whilst we were in Cape Cod on our way to Boston.

I did some research on the Resort first and was slightly apprehensive about the reviews that had been left by some people, but after being there i now realise that half of those reviews were complete rubbish.

I kid you not - the resort is HUGE. We stayed in the Arbour village which is about the furthest away from the mansion and the beach.

We didn't use the shuttle service as we had a car but we were told that we only had to call and we would have a car that would come and pick us up.

I can understand for people with small children that the resort is a bit of a pain as most of the restaurants are in the main mansion and its about 2 miles away. Most people seem to bike down to the mansion or the beach by the looks of it.

The Villa we had though was massive - and was very well equipped. We'd been travelling for 2 weeks so were glad to have the opportunity to wash and dry our clothes in the washing machine and dryer in our villa! The only slight critiscism i would have is that the mattress on our bed had concaved in the middle so both me and my partner both ended up against each other in the middle of the night!

There doesn't seem to be that much in Brewster from what i could see, but we literally only spent a day and a night there and travelled upto Provincetown and Chatham during the day.

I would recommend the OE resort for it's friendly. convienienience and also cleaniness (the whole place is spotless) The golf course as well is stunning so well worth taking your clubs!

“Beautiful Wedding!”

My husband and I were looking for a place to get married--just the two of us. We really wanted to have a romantic and different experience. I had heard about this resort may times but had never been. On their website I saw their wedding packages and they have one called "True Bliss for Two". What an amazing package! The resort provided EVERYTHING, I didn't have to lift a finger except to call them the first time to set it up. The package included the officiant, dinner and champagne after the ceremony, an hour of photography, flowers for me and a boutenierre for him, three nights stay, breakfast daily, and bike rentals. Every detail was attended to and my husband and I were treated like royalty. Leslie Gallea (the resort's wedding planner)did a fabulous job helping us with logistics. Our wedding was held on the resort's private beach at sunset and was absolutely gorgeous. Our room was large, clean, and very tastefully decorated with a lovely balcony overlooking the pretty property. We could see the ocean from our room. The staff was extremely helpful and nice! We are looking forward to returning for our anniversary. I can't think of a more romantic way to start our journey as husband and wife. Perfect!
