Beautiful rooms but you have to go out of the main area to go anywhere. It is not directly on the ocean and for a location on Cape Cod, this is a downer. Some of the rooms are about a half mile down from the lobby and you must drive to go anywhere. If you have a problem walking or cannot do stairs, this is NOT the place for you

“Finally Undertaking Renovations”

I am excited to hear from other posters that the Ocean Edge resort is finally beginning work on much needed renovations. My girlfriend and I stayed here back in 2004 and were unimpressed by how dated the entire resort was. The main hotel area was impressive, but the adjacent hotel wing with rooms was significantly dated and in need of renovations. The only positive aspect of the hotel room was that there a nice sized bathroom with a large bathtub. Also, we found this hotel to be a great place to spend a quiet Valentine's Day. I'd recommend it as a good off-
season hotel, but can't imagine spending time at this dated hotel during the "in season".

Ocean Edge Resort & Club Breaks New Ground: $18.5 Million Expansion Includes New Meeting Space and Cape Cod's only Nicklaus-Design Golf Course.

Ocean Edge Resort & Club on Cape Cod broke ground on an $18.5 million expansion, which includes 7,500 square feet of meeting space throughout the property, and renovations of the historic Nickerson Mansion interior rooms.

Renovation and expansion is taking place on both the Bayside and Resort sides of Ocean Edge. On the Bayside, 5,000 square feet of new meeting and function space will be added behind the Mansion with views overlooking Cape Cod Bay. The Resort side will see the addition of the Linx Pavillion, a 2,500-square-foot venue with views of the 18th hole of the resort’s new Nicklaus
Design golf course.

In the Mansion, the elegant Roscommon Room and Terrace and Nickerson Room will be converted from meeting to dining rooms. A bar and lounge will be added in the La Sallette Room, offering lobby tea by day and cocktail service at night.

The Roscommon Room and Terrace, the Nickerson family’s original dining room, boasts an enormous fireplace and carved Italian wood paneling with views of the Bay. The Nickerson Room, the family’s game room, features a large fireplace with the Nickerson family crest and a glass fishing case showcasing fishing rods from Roland Nickerson’s time. Also in this room are
three intricate glass stained windows imported from Germany, most notably the impetus behind the Ocean Edge “hospitality man” logo.

On the Resort side, the Linx Pavillion, a 2,500-square-foot transparent room and canopy will
be added adjacent to the Linx Restaurant. With a sweeping view of the 18th hole, the
versatile Linx Pavillion will accommodate meetings, events and tournaments.

“Tremendous value for offseason travel w/kids”

Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club

Ocean Edge, which we found thru a promotion w/TravelZoo, offered tremendous value for my family of four (i.e. our package included full breakfast each day and free food for our kids) and made our stay in Brewster extremely pleasant. For families with kids, I'd recommend using the mansion-side pool and fitness center, which is open later and is more kid-friendly; the golf course-side pool is more for people looking to do laps.

We stayed in a one-bedroom villa on the golf course side of the resort, which was extremely peaceful. (I'd caution, however, that the villas are about 1/4 mile to the main mansion, so if you want to be on the bayside of this expansive resort, stay on the mansion side of Route 6-A; otherwise, you have to drive or foot it to the main mansion and bayfront.) We stayed in the Bitterage(sic) villas, which are in great condition and almost brand new.

The only drawback, as another reviewer noted, is that only one of the publicized onsite restaurants was open (Bayzo's Pub) during our stay from 3/27-3/30, with the others listed on the resort's website either closed in the offseason or under renovation. This was not a problem for us, considering we planned to dine offsite anyway (and the villa kitchen is brand new with full appliances and cookwear and more than enough for visitors who plan to cook their own meals); but for those seeking to stay onsite, Bayzo's is the lone dinner option. The food there was pretty good pub-style fare; I thought the chowder was above average, and recommend the french dip. Contrary to another review, we never came across issues with casual attire; mostly jeans and casual collared shirts or sweaters.

For anyone with kids and looking for an offseason getaway, I'd highly recommend staying at Ocean Edge. The resort is centrally located, fairly priced (with tax, the B&B package cost us about $400 for 3 nights) and within 40 minutes of a daytrip to Provincetown (which is a cool, eclectic community and near one of the prettiest beaches you'll see on the East Coast, IMO) and other destinations on the Cape (i.e. Hyannis). I'd also recommend a trip to the Museum of Natural History, which was far better than we expected and very interactive for children, and a meal at Mahoney's Atlantic Bar & Grill in nearby Orleans (4 miles from Ocean Edge); great seafood there.

Major building works are being undertaken - so only the bar is serving food - we booked on the undestanding that 'fine dining' would be avaliable - its not! The room was fine - if adjecent to the building works - but I suggest you check before you commit if you want proper resturant food.

“Beautiful weekend getaway”

Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club

2 Mar 2008

We stayed at Ocean's Edge for a relaxing weekend in February. At first glance, the mansion itself is stunning. It is sprawled out against the backdrop of the ocean and it magnificent.
Checking in is extremely organized and quick. They have everything set up in folders and when you check out, you simply check the bill left in front of your door that morning and leave the keys inside.

The room was beautiful, we stayed in the suite in the buildings to the left. There was an indoor pool and a nice looking gym. The bed was huge and the bathroom was immaculate.

Since we were only staying for a weekend, we packed jeans and sneakers and were dissappointed to find out to go to the restaurants inside the mansion, casual dress is not allowed. We did check the room service menu, and were surprised to find out that the prices were not that bad. There was a "room tax" of 25% (I think, I could be off) that would probably add to the "average" cost. There was only one Italian restaurant we found that was opened in the nearby area, so think ahead in the winter.

The beach is beautiful and traditionally cape. There was a lot of construction going on....but we would love to go here in the summer if it wasn't for the jump in prices. Enjoy!!
