Ocean Edge, which we found thru a promotion w/TravelZoo, offered tremendous value for my family of four (i.e. our package included full breakfast each day and free food for our kids) and made our stay in Brewster extremely pleasant. For families with kids, I'd recommend using the mansion-side pool and fitness center, which is open later and is more kid-friendly; the golf course-side pool is more for people looking to do laps.
We stayed in a one-bedroom villa on the golf course side of the resort, which was extremely peaceful. (I'd caution, however, that the villas are about 1/4 mile to the main mansion, so if you want to be on the bayside of this expansive resort, stay on the mansion side of Route 6-A; otherwise, you have to drive or foot it to the main mansion and bayfront.) We stayed in the Bitterage(sic) villas, which are in great condition and almost brand new.
The only drawback, as another reviewer noted, is that only one of the publicized onsite restaurants was open (Bayzo's Pub) during our stay from 3/27-3/30, with the others listed on the resort's website either closed in the offseason or under renovation. This was not a problem for us, considering we planned to dine offsite anyway (and the villa kitchen is brand new with full appliances and cookwear and more than enough for visitors who plan to cook their own meals); but for those seeking to stay onsite, Bayzo's is the lone dinner option. The food there was pretty good pub-style fare; I thought the chowder was above average, and recommend the french dip. Contrary to another review, we never came across issues with casual attire; mostly jeans and casual collared shirts or sweaters.
For anyone with kids and looking for an offseason getaway, I'd highly recommend staying at Ocean Edge. The resort is centrally located, fairly priced (with tax, the B&B package cost us about $400 for 3 nights) and within 40 minutes of a daytrip to Provincetown (which is a cool, eclectic community and near one of the prettiest beaches you'll see on the East Coast, IMO) and other destinations on the Cape (i.e. Hyannis). I'd also recommend a trip to the Museum of Natural History, which was far better than we expected and very interactive for children, and a meal at Mahoney's Atlantic Bar & Grill in nearby Orleans (4 miles from Ocean Edge); great seafood there.
