What a disappointing dinner tonight. My family and I are long time patrons of Floramo's and I must say this was the worst dinner ever. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because of our waitress, Sherry. She was terrific even though she had no support from the manager and a kitchen that was really off their game.
On a snowy Friday night we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks which came promptly. We ordered a ribs/steak tips combo, a chicken bona boca, and an eggplant parm. We received salads, and then Sherry came over with what appeared to be two entrees. One of which wasn't ours. She took them away and then came back delivering two other entrees. We were told that the third entree would come shortly.
The ribs were overdone and dry appearing to have been cooked and then reheated. The top of the ribs peeled off like a Slim Jim. They were drier and chewier than usual but the hungry member of our party ate them anyway. Not a good thing when their motto is "...where the meat falls off the bone." The steak tips were cooked medium as we had ordered. The eggplant parm was chewy as if it were not done enough. We sent it back. In the meantime, the chicken bona boca arrived and it was fine. The SAME eggplant parm came back again and looked like the kitchen had made an attempt to cook it further in the oven? In any event, it was cooked unevenly with the cheese on top now being burnt. Half of it was still undercooked with the other half appearing to be somewhat cooked. We decided to leave that thing alone and concentrate on the chicken bona boca.
When Sherry came back to see how things were, we told her that the eggplant was not good. She offered to wrap it up but we declined. We further indicated that it seemed that the kitchen was off its game and she agreed. Apparently, Sherry spoke with the manager who told her that the eggplant appeared to be cooked and that we would have to pay for it. After giving a credit card for payment, Sherry told us that the manager agreed to credit the bill. We discovered that the credit was for $7 - half the cost of the eggplant parm entree.
We never received an apology or a visit from the manager. Sherry was very apologetic, and we appreciated that.
This visit was a huge disappointment. I have to say that I am in no hurry to revisit Floramo's any time soon. I hope that this experience was an anomaly rather than what I can look forward to in the event I revisit Floramo's in the future.
