Last summer was our first time in Gloucester. We decided to stay at the Crow's Nest because it was so cheap and the actual hotels are very expensive. The Crow's Nest was quite an experience. You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to the room. But, the room was clean and had tv, etc so it was good. Definitely not for a romantic stay, but nonetheless it was doable. The location made it very noisy with the traffic on the street and there really weren't too many parking spots, although we didn't really have a problem. I think they probably gave us their best room :) The bathroom was definitely newly updated so at least it made you feel better.
The actual bar was really neat and the people were so friendly. It definitely is a local places although many tourists stop by for a drink (probably not to stay). We were disappointed to learn that the movie was not actual filmed at the bar but at a set up set along the water's edge down the street. Still, the people could tell you stories and the owner was very happy to tell us about his family and the experience from what he knew of it. They have all of the pictures of their family and the fishing crew on the wall as well as a photo album to look through. The owner also let us come in and take pictures of the place before it was opened for the day when we were checking out.
Overall, it was a good experience and the room was not bad for what you paid. I would definitely go back there, but probably not to stay there, but you never know :)
