If you stay here you will be spoiled for going anywhere else. Ever.

The whole Cape feels relatively untouched. In hot summer the sea air is fresh, and if you catch the Nor'Easter it is just unbelievably dramatic (in a being battered by gales while freezing to death because you packed togs for a holiday sort of way). Honorary European roads. Leave your Land Yacht at home and get a squirelly compact instead. There's even a roundabout...

Forget about going anywhere else. You just feel so at home here with Anna, it's easy to come back. Again and again.

The other guests are always so affable. Take your pick between the gawking newbies who haven't got over their find yet, and the comfortably settled veterans. They know it's good, you know it's good, and no more need be said. It's like some sort of secret society.

It will mess up your travelling plans, though. You could travel the highways and byways of the country, sampling the rich variety of experiences on offer, or you could have another scone. No contest.

We were referred to Lanes Cove House due to an over booking era at another B & B. Things sometimes are just meant to be because our stay at Lanes Cove House was very special. The house was beautifully kept and had a natural warm charm to it. No wonder because so did our Host Anna. She made us feel right at home and her coffee and scones were the best we have ever had. There is a beautiful park close by to walk around as well as down town shopping and dinning. I would recommend a visit to anyone looking for a nice romantic get a way even if they don't have an interest in boats or the water, there is still plenty to do on land. We plan on returning and possible go whale watching next time.

Without question, the best bed and breakfast experience I've ever had. You could not find a more beautiful place in New England. Where else does the sun set over the water on the east coast? Impeccably clean accomidations mixed with warmth and thoughtfulness and a superior hostess (Anna) who made sure that our stay was comfortable and complete. I absolutely did not want to leave this little slice of heaven and Anna made it feel as if we were her family.
You must try Anna's home made scones, they are to die for! We'll be back for sure.

The proprietess of this cozy inn is one of the nicest, funniest, most charming people you will ever meet. She immediately puts you at ease with her sweet, yet wise-cracking grandmother/aunt-like nurturing -- but she's not going to hover. She lets you set the pace and tone of what you want your visit to be.

When you flip through her guest book, you will repeatedly see references to the amazing attention to detail -- and it's all true. She has obviously put great effort into making sure that your room has the amenities and cleanliness of any small, four- or five-star hotel. The continental breakfasts make you feel like you're in a pleasant English inn, and her scones are not to be missed!

The setting of this place is also a great plus -- set in a tight-knit, neighborly pocket of Gloucester, perched high up with a great view of Lane's Cove, a working fisherman's enclave, just a short walk down from the house.

If you choose Lane's Cove, you'll be charmed and rejuvenated. I'm a repeat visitor! It's the only place I'll stay on Cape Ann.
