We recently stayed at the Bass Rocks Ocean Inn for one night and simply loved it! You can't go wrong with the view of the ocean from your room and the wonderful smell of the ocean air! Our room was so clean and bed and linens were great! Grounds and pool very well maintained!
Starbucks coffee and choc chip cookies at tea time and a nice continental breakfast in the main house...aptly named the "Wedding Cake House".
Staff was very friendly and helpful with maps and ideas for dining out.
Would love to go back!

All you are getting with this glorified "motel" is location on the ocean for $220 plus a night. They had the hardest mattresses I have ever slept on. Beware! They also have the smallest bathrooms in the world. Not even a shelf to put your clothes on while changing and no extra sink so more than one person can get ready at the same time. I could not even turn around in this bathroom. For this price one would at least expect a stocked refrigerator/bar, bathrobes, nicer toiletries....not here!

I would highly recommend this hotel. Everything was exactly as stated on the web site. We used and enjoyed the internet, continental breakfast, bikes, pool, newspapers, coffee in room, DVD library, cookies, lemonade and coffee in lobby all the time, friendly staff, restaurant menu's and tourist pamplets.
Good Harbor beach was great..go early. Long beach was not as nice.
Fishermans memorial is a must.
Gloucester is a great place if you like looking at the ocean and boats. Beautiful scenery.
The only suggestion I would give the hotel would be to include something whole grain or whole wheat on the breakfast table. We really missed that.
The bathroom was a little small.
But we still had a GREAT time.

Booked accomodations through AAA. Arrived at 12:15 and had to be at Seven Seas for a whaling trip at 1 pm. Checked in. When we saw the room, we were not happy. First floor right behind the pool and patio. Went back in and requested that they move us as far away from the pool as possible. Told us to go whale watching and enjoy ourselves...they would take care of it. When we returned, they had changed us to room 214 on the second floor. Lovely room with a great view of the ocean. Quiet. Only charged us the higher price for one night when they could have done it for both. Very good expanded continental brkfst. Wonderful staff from helpful desk employees to housekeeping. My only disappointment is the wireless internet. It never worked for more than five minutes at a time. Try not to book on the first floor. Great view but guests use the front grass for games.
As an aside, we ate at Risterante LaTrattoria & Pizza. Great meal. Ate at the Lobster Pool great food, great view, small shack style bldg.
Seven Seas Whale Watch. Nice ride. Didn't see that many whales. Have to give them credit for going out further than they normally do.
Harbor Tours Inc. Lighthouse Tour. The worst. Asked before boarding if it was rough because I have motion sickness. Told it was fine. Captain misrepresented and said it would only be rough in the harbor. Well....rough water lasted for 2 of the 4 hours. Found out later that there were small craft advisories posted that day.
