We stayed at the Holiday Inn, Hyannis for 5 nights in June. I have stayed in other areas on the cape before and this was a very good choice. Not only is it a central location for sightseeing with easy access to the ferry and airport, but the hotel is located in a great area for walking to restaurants and lots of shopping.
The hotel itself was very well maintained. The rooms are basic but spacious enough to be comfortable. We were fortunate enough to have a room with a renovated bathroom that featured the walk-in glass shower. Some of the rooms have the traditional tub/shower situation but this was better- if you are staying at this hotel I would request that shower. Being allergic to cigarette smoke, I requested a non-smoking room. I was a bit concerned when we walked to our room and found that the hallway smelled of smoke. Not to worry! When we entered our room all signs of the smoke were gone. The staff that we dealt with were friendly and helpful.
The only real downside I can see is that the walls seem to be paper-thin. Conversations that seemed to be of normal volume were easily audible at all times, whether coming from other guests or their televisions. This could be a bit distracting and diffucult to deal with, but luckily we travel with a white noise machine so it didn't really affect us too much. I'd say anyone preparing to spend any time at this hotel should certainly invest in earplugs or a sound machine.
Overall, it's a great value for the money and a great location. We will stay there again.
