Stayed for 2 nights August 17-19 2006
The Inn itself can only be described as "quaint" and a very interesting place to visit and explore, but if anything is a little too dark, especially in the library where light is important.
Breakfasts are a good standard with many tasty home made dishes offered. The owners also are very friendly which is why the visit left us with mixed feelings
Unfortunately we were not in the main inn, but in a seperate building just to one side
Room 13 said it all..
The owners described it as collonial style, I can only assume this is code for not very clean and dark, the side of the bed had not been vacuumed for some time. The apartment was constructed of single layer wood with a partially painted concrete ceiling. The doors and windows were not very secure and you were left with a concern that anyone could enter irrispective of the lock on the door. The side bedroom was very dark and extremely cold due to a window that was just mesh and with no glass. Our daughter woke up cold every day... even in August....
The shower was so dark that the owners had placed a battery operated light in it, pity the battery was gone and the light corroded
The main bed itself seemed to be 3/4 size only and did not offer a comfortable sleep at all.
I'm sure if we had stayed in the main Inn we would have had a different experience, but If you are offered room 13, ask to change or if it is not in the middle of a heatwave, take your thermals.
Oh, and watch for the rotten step as you enter room 13, the wildlife living under this rickety piece of wood are very interesting
