We stayed for three nights in this delightful property. The room was spectacular with a wonderful jacuzzi bath. The hosts, Laura and Paul, were the best we encountered on our two weeks in New England , knowledgeable about local sites and restaurants, happy to share their ideas and recommendations but never too intrusive. Other hosts we stayed with could learn a lot from them. The black labrador, Daniel, is very friendly and perfectly behaved, not allowed to go into the areas used by guests but more than happy to be made a fuss of!
The property is a little way out of both Williamstown and North Adams, but is ideally situated for touring the Berkshires. Breakfasts were plentiful and varied. A hot dish was offered on one morning even though they normally only serve cooked breakfasts at weekends.

    • Liked — The exceptionally comfortable room and the friendly - but not intrusive - hosts + Daniel of course
    • Disliked — Not being able to make a cup of coffee when we wanted one.

The Blackinton Manor was our last stop on a 10-day trip through New England, staying at B&Bs and inns except for 2 nights in Boston. It was a charming respite for two tired travelers. We stayed in the bedroom on the first floor and were the only guests that weekend, so it was very private and peaceful. We were very grateful that we didn't have to haul our luggage up several flights of stairs as we had at some other otherwise-lovely old homes or inns. The mansion has been tastefully restored with antiques and reproductions, and updated for comfort and convenience. The bathroom, which was large, sunny and spotless was also fully modernized with a double, jetted tub and wall heater. The bedroom was unusually large for homes of that vintage, and featured a wonderfully comfortable bed with sumptuous bedding. We appreciated the care and taste that had obviously gone into selecting decor, and the high quality of the renovation work. The continental breakfast was pretty light, but this was a good thing, since we had eaten so much earlier in our trip. The helpful owner gave us good information about dining establishments and local attractions as well as driving times and routes to other towns and Albany airport. We were very pleased with our experience and would certainly recommend Blackinton Manor.

The Blackinton Manor in North Adams, Massachusetts
August 23, 2007

The Blackinton Manor provided us with a thoroughly enjoyable two-night stay. The exterior’s clearly a work in progress in places, but the interior’s beautiful and immaculately clean. The hosts were welcoming and pleasant conversationalists throughout our time there. We found their advice on what to see in the area, and in particular on where to dine (or not dine), was very helpful. Our room with a private bath was comfortable and quiet, although the bathroom was small and limited to a shower. The neighborhood originally was home to leaders from the area’s nineteenth century mills and there are a number of very architecturally interesting buildings in the vicinity. Traffic was usually light and the overall impression was peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast offered a satisfactory number of choices, and the fruit and baked goods were very fresh. We would stay there again.
