We came out to North Adams from Boston for a quick getaway for some fresh air and an event at Mass MoCA (along with the art, of course). I had been pining to stay at Porches for a long time and finally got a chance to this time. It was fantastic!

The front desk person was cheery and gave us an overview of all the amenities on site - heated pool and hot tub, sauna, complimentary breakfast in the morning, gazebo out back, free wifi in the rooms, DVDs for viewing, etc.

The room itself was eclectic country in decor, but with all the modern amenities we've grown accustomed to in newer hotels. Our room was amply sized with a very comfortable bed, a separate living room and a large bathroom with great products, good lighting and a separate shower and tub.

All in all, staying at Porches helped make our escape from the city pretty perfect.

My husband and I just spent a relaxing weekend at the Porches Inn. The winter special for a suite was a good deal, and the rooms were beautiful, funky and comfortable, but really elegant at the same time. The staff was pleasant and helpful at all times. We had so much fun hanging out in the hot tub in the freezing weather with snow flurries swirling around us. MassMOCA was amazing, ( the Jenny Holzer exhibit alone would have made the trip worth it ) and the food at the Cafe Latino restaurant inside the MassMOCA complex was terrific. We took a walk around the town, and like other reviewers said, there wasn't a lot to do, but the people we met were friendly and the buildings and view of the mountains were lovely. We can't wait to go back again and see what it's like in the summer and fall.

“What a great night away!”

I just returned from a very pleasant and relaxing night away wiht hubbie. The trip really exceeded my expectations. To be honest, I had no expectations for North Adams. We spent about 3 hours at Mass MOCA and most of the remaining time at the hotel, in the jacuzzi, in the lounge or in our room watching a movie. It was an ideal, blissful, relaxing night away. The only downside was the street traffic, so try to request a room off the street, but other than that, the fitness room, bathroom/bed, and breakfast were all wonderful and highly suggested.

I didn't know that much about North Adams when booking my latest trip to New England. But MassMOCA appealled so I decided to stay at Porches Inn. To be fair, I should have done more research.

There is absolutely nothing in North Adams other than MassMOCA and the Porches Inn.

The Inn is lovely - my room was nicely decorated, if a little kitschy in spots. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that you can buy virtually everything decorating your room!

The bathroom was incredible - a real highlight. Spacious, beautiful decorated, beautiful toiletries and robes....I had one of the best baths of my life!

Breakfast was good - nothing cooked or particularly special. Internet access was handy.

All in all, a very nice place to stay but probably a bit pricey for what it is.

Great place over all but pricy.... is it worth it?....Yes at least once... and its worth it to find out. Not a bit of tacky anything anywhere. A bit of tongue in cheek here and there but overall just very nice and warm with out sappy. with round the clock outdoor hot tub and pool. Some staff could use a bit of coaching on the hospitality end.

North Adams is kind of empty with a couple of high end restaurants but MA MOCA is the big draw and for one or two nights its good to get off the beaten path and into a comfy and inviting hotel. Is someone else doing this kind of thing for less?..... that would be nice. DVD rentals for free -- walk to "everything" (see above)-- bike or cruise around the area for some local culture if you have to have a break from the just too darn nice / hip decor....
