The evening started with a rude waitress. We shared cappacio appetizer which tasted more like the cheap kippered beef you buy in plastic bags at the grocery. My wife's salad had a watery indifferent dressing. The cod and clams with pasta was inedible. The pasta cooked to mush and not even well drained, the tiny bit of cod dry and tasteless, the two little necks rubbery and the saucing almost none existent. My wife's putenesca had tinny tasting black olives and was the worse we have ever had. We did not eat the food and complained but were offered no relief from either the waitress or the smirky host.

terrible- and OVER PRICED.

we just got home and have never written a TA review, but felt the need. 80-some-odd dollars later:

the food was bland, oily and overcooked. the service was...not rude, but not attentive. grandmotherly waitress was not pleased that we didn't eat enough when we asked for the check. (portions were huge in addition). only three wines by the glass, per color- very little choice.

dark "romantic" setting is a joke. the basket encased, yellow light bulb was in my- and my wife's- eyes all night. giving me a headache for sure.

we definitely asked each other, over the course of the dinner- why are there not better restaurants in p-town!?

our vote: steer clear. stay in. make annie's or cereal.

I took my future wife here on a romantic weekend getaway and read a lot of hype about this restaurant. Dont be fooled, thats all it is is hype. It is tucked away at the back of an alley and the downstairs looked like the place to sit, very dark and romantic. Instead we were seated upstairs which is open and bright and airy. The service was slow and the staff inexperienced. The place wasnt that crowded to demand the poor service. The food was just okay, not overly inventive or impressive and it was a tad overpriced. I would not go back since P-Town is filled with great restaurants. Try somewhere else.

We arrived around 8 on a Monday during carnival week- we were seated immediately. The hostess was very curt, but no one wazs offended. Our server (wish I had his name) was awesome. We had a bottle of chianti- cheesy but it was good. We ordered from the night's specials- manicotti and shrimp w/ feta, kalamata olives, etc. Both dishes were very, very good. Atmosphere is a bit claustrophobic with the low ceilings and hanging bottles but still nice. Give Ciro & Sals a try!

Once again we thought that we would give Sal and Ciro's the old college try. We are drawn to a dining location not simply for the food but the ambience and staff hospitality so quite honestly I'm not sure why we had given this establishment another chance. The service is never a pleasant experience as we feel that we are intruding on their evening. The food is nothing to brag about but not bad. We like the kitschy basement feel. The defining moment for us came just last weekend. I had booked a table a week in advance and had received a prompt confirmation via email:a table for two at 9:00 p.m. So far so good. We confidently entered the restaurant knowing that we had a table and looked forward to relaxing over dinner. I would like to say that we were "greeted" but that is simply too far from the truth. The "hostess" somehow managed to conjure up such a look of disdain and "attitude " when we walked in and stated that we had a reservation that we were just taken aback. She perused the reseravtion bookings with no more than a cursory glance and pronounced that we did not have a reservation. News to me. I stated a Ms. Lauren Richmond had indeed emailed me a confirmation and had copied a Mister Bill Lampros on the details. Now we have blank stare coupled with "attitude." At this point in our time spent at the hostess station my husband let it be known to me thatt he wanted to just exit. Normally I would have joined him in his assessment of the situation but it was a busy Saturday night after a long week and I simply didn't have the "puff" to attempt to track down a meal. We opted to stay and were led to a table with no apology for the manner in which we were treated....As I said, never again....
