Stayed at the Crowne Pointe for two nights in late February, 2008. The initial reservation via phone was smooth and pleasant (John) and the checkin was even smoother (Matt). We were given rm 203 and it was beautiful. Great bed, large bathroom, and just enough room for two. It was not nearly as large as the website photos would lead you to believe, but it was still very nice. The only problem with the room was on the second night, when the people upstairs used the jacuzzi...it was the loudest noise outside of a construction site I have ever heard..the ceiling shook, the walls vibrated, it was awful, for about 30 minutes or so. Other than that, the footsteps of the people upstairs was noticeable the first day, but not after that...maybe we got used to it?
For meals, we had breakfast (complementary) at the restaurant...very good. Good variety, small area to eat, but not crowded. Dinner Thursday night was at the Bistro. Salad was excellent; main courses very good, though my steak was a little underdone; dessert was a 50/50 split~ Mine was excellent, hers was undercooked Creme brulee...watery and more like pudding than custard. Waiter was very professional.
Other comments: Property was nice, not crowded at all. Staff was more than pleasant..every single person we encountered was professional, warm, and courteous. Turn down service was a nice touch the first night, but did not come by the second night. (??) Water pressure in the shower was average. Room amenities and decor were perfect.
Did not take advantage of the Spa (but heard several other guests speaking very complimentarily about it) or the wine and cheese event before dinner.
The area was really nice, though pretty quiet in the off season.
For a rating, I would say that the place was very good. It did not rise to my expectations, but we were satisfied nevertheless. For a great escape for some down time/ alone time, we would definitely go back. Not sure that would apply to the peak/busy season.
