I stayed at the Crowne Point Inn from May 27-June 3 and I absolutely loved it. In order to make the review a bit easier on the eyes for you , I'm going to break things down into categories...
Location:
Great location! It's just one block from Commercial street where all the shops, candy stores, shows, and restaurants are located. It's close enough to walk to and far enough away to be nice and quiet at night. I will admit though, after stuffing yourself with delicious food on Commercial Street, it's a bit tough to walk up the slight hill back to the hotel!
Staff:
Very friendly. Everyone from check-in, cleaning staff, and waiters at the Bistro were very friendly and willing to help when you needed it, ie: when carrying heavy bags and someone has to open the door.
The Property and Grounds:
Beautiful flowers everywhere! Perhaps this is because I stayed here in June and everything is just beginning to bloom, but everything was stunning. The area near the spa is very peaceful with a koi pond and several waterfalls and statues. The pool is very small but heated. It also boasts two hot tubs located in a secluded area surrounded by flowers, making the experience all the more relaxing. The hotel itself has many beautiful paintings and antique furniture throughout. One of my favorite parts of the hotel is that there are no children allowed, making for a peaceful, restful getaway.
The Room:
Gorgeous! I stayed in Room 206, the "Teddy" Roosevelt. Living up to its name, there are lots of teddy bears up in a little crevice in the ceiling. The Bed-ultimate comfort! I slept like a baby and I'm usually not a good sleeper. We had a jacuzzi in the room and it was great after walking around for hours to just kick back and relax. The room is furnished with beautiful antique furniture and the robes that they give you are wonderfully comfortable and warm. There is also a tv and dvd player in the room which comes in handy when you want to keep up with the news or watch some dvd's on a quiet night inn. The AC worked great and cooled the room down very quickly. There is also a fan when AC is not necessary that hangs right above the bed. There are lots of windows allowing plenty of light in, eliminating the need for daytime lighting, however they do use compact fluorescent bulbs so I wouldn't feel bad turning them on anyway! The little soaps and shampoos they give you are great and leave you very soft and smelling good.
The Restaurant:
The included breakfast is nice in that it's free but it's not overwhelmingly great. There are various pastries, muffins, and bagels and fruit laid out for you and then there is a selection of hot foods for the day. This was the part I did not enjoy so much, there is only one option for hot food, and if you're a vegetarian like my fiance, its tough because things like casseroles already have meat in them. The food itself is not bad, but the eggs to me taste a little fake. They bring the food right to your table after telling the chef what you want. Basically you order and they just stick it in the microwave and bring it out to you. However, it is free and on that note it's not too shabby. The dinner here is much better. The menu is diverse but again, only one vegetarian option (a tofu stir-fry that my fiance said was delicious). I found the clam chowder to be very flavorful but sandy and that ruined it for me. The "nightly" specials only change every 3 or 4 days which is kind of aggravating. I found that everytime I ate in the dining room there was a fly or two flying around and that kind of ruined the atmosphere.
Overall I loved it and I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
