The Location of the Ocean Mist is it's strong point. I would recommend The front 7 or so loft suites on both sides - they have 2 balconies each and are close to the ocean. The front desk was kind enough to move us up towards the front without even asking when we checked in. My wife and I were looking for a few quiet days on the beach, and got just that by booking after labor day. Our room was dated but clean, and exactly what we had expected. If you are looking for 5 star this is not the place for you, but if you like being on the beach - the price was very reasonable and the staff friendly. There are also many places to eat within a short distance, including a great seafood restaurant only a short walk down the shore(great clam chowder). We had a Fridge in our room, but did not have a microwave or coffee maker ( if you are driving - bring one). Would definitely consider coming back.

We stayed in a room with two double beds, a kitchenette, walk-in closet and a clean bathroom. The beds were comfortable. The parking lot was in the center of the property, just a few feet from your room, but far enough to keep things quiet. There was some loud footsteps above our room, but that is the only thing I can think that was wrong. However, this motel is becoming a timeshare community so there was constant "car salesmen" walking around showing off the property to prospective buyers.

The beach was steps away from the rooms and some plastic beach chairs were available for use. The indoor pool and jacuzzi are in a large windowed room connected to the main office.

Overall, the place was well maintained, the staff was kind and it is in a great location.

We enjoyed our stay!

We booked this trip about month ahead of our vacation, and most other places were already booked. We stayed for a week in one of their loft suits, it was five of us and we had planty of space. Our kids loved the location, it is right on the beach (that does not get any cleaning, nor it has a life guard). Room would of been nice few decades ago, but as of now celing leaks, AC drips. When asked staff about the leak, we were told that they will fix it soon as possible, that was on our first day, it was still leaking when we left. I liked the fact that we did have the ocean view from the balcony, great for the morning coffee. We have never tasted their coffee, we used the coffee pot provided in the room. Fridge was good size, and it was handy to have a microwave, since the place doesn't offer any meals, nor it has a restoraunt of their own,so you can't even buy food. This place is close to Hyannis, so we ended us eating at different places there. Pool is gross, dirty full of other people's hair, fake nails... walls in the pool area are literally falling apart. By the way you can't get internet conection at all in your room, when we were booking this trip I asked about it and I was told that there is wireless internet, but when we got there, they told me that I had to go to the pool area for it! My lap top was all fogged up, because the pool area is also a hot tub area, and it gets to hut there. Overall I think that this is very overpriced place, for the $259 a night you don't get much. I would of loved the location if the place and the beach were kept up better.

For our summer vacation, we decided to spend a few days at the Cape. We made reservacations with Cape Cod Resorts to stay at the Ocean Mist I requested a room facing the ocean, when we checked in, I had to wait in line, the two families ahead of ours were either checking out earlier, very unhappy or the other family was trying to change rooms. Hearing this, I requested to look at our room before filling out the paperwork. Our room was on the bottom floor, behind a set of stairs. Beside being very musty smelling, there was mold on the bottom of one of the walls, the rug, sheets and comforter either smelt really bad or they had a stain on them. When we looked out the window, it was facing the alley and a tool shed. When I mentioned this to the woman in the office, she said " well then, just don't look out the window.". It was so bad that we choose not to stay there. The woman in the office said that we should seeing that it was already for. I told her we looked forwardT to staying at the cape, on the ocean but we were not desperate. To this day, I have fought for a refund and to no aval, no one has every called me back. Please, if you want to have a good vacation, stay far away from the Ocean Mist.

Great But Not Perfect!!

Every year, we spend Our Fall vacation at the Ocean Mist. Since we are a family of four, We usually stay in the smaller loft on top next to the "Beach House Bed & Breakfast. When my son was smaller we would stay at the larger loft on the other side on top. For the price to stay there, it fit perfectly into our budget. It's not the cleanest place but is quite comfortable & the views are breath taking!! The cleaning staff are very friendly & as for the staff that run the hotel they are ok. It's the older woman with the accent (british?) that could make or ruin a vacation. She should really take a "How to be pleasant" course. Not the most pleasant person in the world., The company who recently bought this place are renovating to turn this place into Condo's. Last year before we left the Cape we made reservations (a year in advance) from the Ocean Mist, They assured us that if our regular loft was not available they would give us the larger one on the other side. At that point the lady with the accent took my credit card & litterly charged us for the first night stay for October , 2008. So, we are looking forward to stay later on this year. like I said "Great but not Perfect!!

  • Liked — Location & the great views!!
