We've stayed at Blue Rock four or five times in the past, visiting relatives nearby, and have never been disappointed. This time we were there on opening day in April 2007 (they close for the winter). I had anticipated some "rough edges", maybe not much in the way of a breakfast or maybe a cobweb in the room. But no, nothing like that. There were about 10 guests on opening day, most of them golfers. Breakfast, as usual, was superb (pancakes loaded with cranberries and apples). The room was clean and fresh. And, of course, there was the usual view out over the golf course, some crocuses and daffodils springing up around the property. And the staff was good as usual.
Blue Rock is a bit of a challenge to find, but well worth the effort unless you really enjoy being in a typical motel on route 28 with the traffic whizzing -- maybe crawling -- by. Blue Rock is in a residential area, there's no traffic, it's quiet and peaceful, and yet only 5-10 minutes from the beach or some outstanding restaurants. You want golf? It's right there. You want quiet streets to wander or jog? Walk out your door and start strolling. You can go out and go to the beach all day, or go shopping or antiquing,... and then come back to a restful haven at Blue Rock. It's not brand new, but like a comfortable old shoe it fits just right and really feels good to be there. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.
