We read the dissatisfied review of 8/27/2005 (from a Washington DC traveler) just weeks before our first visit to the Greenwood House and feared we'd made a bad choice, but that turned out to be far from the case! We've stayed in 5 or 6 different B&B's on the Vineyard over the years and the Greenwood House compares very well. Each of the rooms are spacious, comfortable and VERY CLEAN and all have cable tv, private bath and are air conditioned.
The inn is on a quiet street a short walk from town that takes you past a harbor-side park, so we really like the location. There is plenty of parking, plus space to leave bikes or golf clubs if you don't want to lug them around your entire stay. Most mornings we head out early, but when we've stayed for breakfast it's been a full meal along with fruit, juice and coffee, and quite good! We've found owners Larry and Kathy to be very friendly, anxious to be helpful and a pleasure to be around.
For us, our stays on Martha's Vineyard involve full days hiking and biking, covering as much ground as we can, so where we stay is based on location, cleanliness, comfort/quiet and competitive rates. If these are the elements most important to you, you won't be disappointed at the Greenwood House. We've been back twice since and have already booked our next return.
