“Good hotel but location not great if relying on public transport”

We stayed here for 5 nights. Frontdesk service was friendly & prompt. The room was spacious & clean. The buffet breakfast was good with a reasonably wide spread. There's complimentary internet (2 PC's) & printing in the business centre. The reason we stayed here was its close proximity to my husband's workplace.

Location isn't the best if you haven't a car. It is a good 10 min walk to the nearest bus stop, along a very busy street across freeway on/off ramps. Otherwise, the hotel's complimentary shuttle can drop you there or at Waltham Commuter Rail Station. However, the commuter rail is expensive & it will cost you one way $6.75 to get you into Downtown Boston -- $4.75 by rail to Porter Sqaure Station & then change to the $2 "T' (Red line) into the city. If they aren't too busy, they may drop you at the more economical ($2 fare) Riverside Station Green T line but they will tell you that it's not within their shuttle "range". Ask, & you should be able to get dropped off there but only after the morning rush hours. I did so during my stay. Getting picked back from either station can be a long wait of up to 45 mins (fastest was 20 mins) after calling the hotel as they seem to be always busy. This isn't an option if you are in a hurry, otherwise you need to factor in the waiting time.

Nearest supermarket is at Wal-Lex Mall, but handy only if you have a car. I think you can take a bus there but it takes like 45 mins when it's only a 10 min drive away. There's a TJ Maxx there too. There's also a COSTCO behind the hotel but not useful if you're not a member.

Housekeeping kept on forgetting to replace the complimentary bottles of water almost everyday. Sometimes there would be one bottle, other times, none. Nevertheless, housekeeping was quick to rectify the situation once a call was made. There was a particular housekeeping guy who delivered the water without so much as a greeting or smile. In fact, he would bang the door hard as if he was irritated that he had to deliver the water & shove the bottles into my hand. We didn't complain as they were fast in meeting our request...

All in all, we enjoyed the stay as the suite was spacious but location is a pain if you are relying on public transport to get around.

“A Great Place to Stay!”

My fiance and I stayed at this Doubletree in November 2006. I had read the T/A reviews and felt pretty comfortable booking this hotel. Yet again T/A was right as this hotel is definitely a great place to stay. Check in was very easy and they gave us a couple of warm chocolate chip cookies which were excellent.

Our room was very spacious with an eating / living area that was separate from the bedroom. There were (2) TV's in the room and the hotel had wireless internet for a fee. There was also a small refrigerator for storing drinks.

The Sunday Brunch served at the hotel is something you shouldn't miss. Frankly I think the entire town of Waltham shows up for it not just hotel guests. The brunch included tons of food choices from eggs to roast beef to waffles plus much more. It was by far the best hotel brunch that I have ever found. I had booked our room as a "bed & breakfast" room so the brunch was included in our room rate.

The hotel was very easy to find right off I-95. It's not more than 2 minutes from the highway whether you are travelling north or south bound.

I did drive into Downtown Boston from the hotel and it wasn't all that bad. Boston can be very challenging, but once you get the hang of it, it's not that bad. For the price this hotel is not a bad deal if you have business in Boston and don't want to stay right in the City. I definitely would stay at this hotel again.

I recently stayed at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Waltham and found it to be very nice. I had business nearby so it was very convenient but I don't think it would have been had my business been in Boston since it is quite a bit away from downtown Boston. I arrived in the evening and check in was fast and the desk agent gave me a cookie for my troubles. The only problem was that he forgot to give me a package that was waiting for me and I had to ask for it. The room was very nice but the sitting area was a bit noisy and the noise from the atrium below was easily heard. The bedroom however was very quiet once I closed the door leading to it. I ordered room service which was delivered quickly and professionally and the food was excellent. The wireless internet in my room was very slow and there was no ethernet option available. Housekeeping did an excellent job. The business center facilities were very good. Overall, I found this to be an excellent hotel but I would only recommend it for those who need to be in Waltham since I don't think it would be particularly convenient for pursuits in Boston.

We spent three night at the DoubleTree Guest Suites in Waltham, MA. We were very satisfied with our stay. The hotel was well maintained and the space in the two room suite. Our children slept on the two double beds in the bedroom and my wife and I shared the double size pull out couch, which was ok for a couch. The beds in the bedroom are Heavenly Beds, which looked really comfortable.

The pool and spa were clean and in good condition and the exercise equipment looked good too. We did not use restaurant in the hotel but it looked to be fairly busy.

We needed to drive a little ways to find a place to eat and to find a grocery store. There is a Costco right behind the hotel. WiFi is available in the hotel for $10/24 hour period. The suite had small regrigerator that we kept drinks and fruit in.

We stayed at the Doubletree guest suites in Waltham, over Easter weekend, and they had balloons, an Easter Bunny and of course the yummy, chocolate chip cookies upon entering. I was travelling with my husband and our two children, a four year old and a two year old. At night it was great to be able to shut the bedroom door and have some quiet time just myself and my husband. The rooms were spacious with a table for two to eat, a couch, two tv's one in living area one in bedroom. Couch did fold out to make a bed but we all slept the big bedroom, there was a fridge which stored our ice cream from the supermarket located behind the doubletree and a big bathroom with enough counter space to hold all of our bathroom necessities. We went to the pool at night and it was big and inviting. Did not get to use the exercise equipment but that seem to always have people in it, and they appeared to like the equipment. We are planning to stay here next Easter, when we take our annual trip to see the Aquarium, Museum of Science, and childrens museum.
