Oh where do I start... First, let me just say that this was my third stay at McGuire's since June 2011. My first two visits went very well. Rooms were clean, staff friendly, everything was as expected. Our first visit, we stayed in a regular room with the basic accommodations. Other than needing to be updated, it was fine. Our second visit we upgraded to one of the suites. Absolutely wonderful!! Completely updated, full kitchenette, patio, separate bedroom area - the works!! Just an all around wonderful visit!! This is why we decided to come back!!
Our last visit, which was September 11 - 15 was not so wonderful. When booking the room, I had specifically requested the same suite. I was told it was already reserved however, there was another suite upstairs (even newer, remodeled in June of this year) that was available. Perfect, we'll take it!! Upon arrival at our suite, I was very disappointed. It was NOTHING like the suite we had on our prior visit and had booked for this visit. Room was not updated, not a kitchenette at all (just a microwave and fridge - no cookware, utensils, just the standard wooden table) old style TVs, just two hotel rooms put together with one annoying, very heavy and loud door between them!! My hope was to be able to cook some meals during our stay (as we did on our last visit) this time not so much. Come to find out we had been bumped from our suite into this one - HUGE disappointment and should be NOT have happened!
That night we ordered room service from Curly's. GREAT food, no complaint there. However, our room service tray and dishes, along with the left over food sat in the hall by the door for three days. At this point it stunk and there were bugs. Other guests had placed pizza boxes on top. The morning of day three, I finally had to go over to the front desk for someone to come and get it!! How many times did housekeeping pass by this food?? Absolutely unacceptable!
On our first morning I had opened the window to let some badly needed fresh air in only to find a dead bat between the glass and the window screen. It had been there a while!! Called front desk again and maintenance arrived quickly to remove bat. To make the day better, housekeeping didn't show up until very late in the afternoon and pretty much only replaced towels and made the bed. Again, such a difference from last time.
I finally had enough and went to talk to front desk about all of the issues we were having this time. Very nice girl at front desk but unfortunately could not help us as she was new. I then talked to another girl who only could tell me I had to wait two days, come back to talk to the front desk manager who was out until Thursday. Is there not a chain of command when a guest is needing to talk to someone ASAP? I was checking out on Thursday but would definitely make my way over to them before I checked out.
Our last day/night there was Wednesday. On return from shopping in mid afternoon, our room keys no longer worked and I had to go over to the main building to request new keys. No explanation was given as to why our keys suddenly didn't work anymore. The day ended with housekeeping coming into our room without knocking around 4:30 asking us what we needed. By the looks on there faces I think they thought the room was not occupied at the moment. They handed us towels through the door and went on their way. No beds made, no garbage emptied, nothing.
Thursday morning I made my way over to front desk and asked for the manager. He came out and I proceeded to explain my concerns with my visit. He did not have much to say and made very little eye contact. Offered one night comp, I asked for two. He agreed. I checked out. After checking my bank statement this morning, at $125 a night, I was not comped two nights. I'm not sure where the amount came from but it's not for two nights. At this point I'm not even sure if it's worth it. A nice gift certificate to get me back to McGuire's for another try would have been a better way to go. Sadly, at this point I don't think we will be returning which is a shame since we frequent the area often.
