This was a suprise. I was alittle leary in that I normally avoid Econo Lodges but was pleasently pleased with this one. The checkin was smooth as was the checkout. The lobby looked more like a Comfort Inn than a normal Econo Lodge with access to the web through thier computer. The room was very clean and highly upgraded for a 1 star. It's location was central to the town with restaurants within easy traveling distances. The breakfast was well done with great coffee. Yes--I would look for this place when traveling through this area again.

We stayed one night and found our room very clean and comfortable, they turned the a/c on ahead of time so the room was nice and cool prior to our arrival which was great since it was 90 degrees out. They had a nice continental breakfast area with bagels, donuts and a waffle maker, juices and coffee (all the time). We only paid $60.00 and got much better than we expected.

My son and I were returning home from Michigan via the U.P. and stopped in Escanaba for the night. The Econo Lodge was on Hwy 2/M35, just north of where Hwy 2 turns west and M35 continues south. With no reservations we were able to get a room on the first fl, near a fire exit on the fist fl. The rate was just about $50 (AAA rate).

The Front desk lady was accommodating and friendly. The room was small with a single double bed, an alcove for a closet, small dresser with TV, a table, chair and recliner. The carpet needed a good cleaning. The bathroom was clean with a sink with no vanity, and a modular vinyl bath/shower. Pretty much a no-frills place. For one night of sleep it was worth the stop. If we had needed a room longer I would have looked around. We had dinner at the Buck Inn (Just north on Hwy 2. Famous for it’s appearance in the Movie “Escanaba in da Moonlight” – Good food, nice place)

The continental breakfast was enough to get us back on the road the next morning and we left with no ill feelings.
