We had a group of six, three couples, and stayed at one of the chalets. It was also a "murder/mystery" weekend event. First, I'll cover the amenities, lodging and food....
- Chalet: Check in was a breeze, nice staff. Chalet was a 3 bedroom two story 2 full bath. Two queen bedrooms upstairs share a bath. Queen bedroom on first floor with a bath shared by the living area. Living room decent size with a pull out couch and gas fireplace. Dining table and full kitchen. Large deck with natural gas grill. There's some posts about the furnishings and some bad ratings. The chalet was comfortable, the furniture a little worn, but everything was functional. The beds were clean and comfortable. We had places to sit and the fridge kept our beer cold. The deck was awesome and the fireplace warm.
- Clubhouse Food: With our package, we got 2 breakfasts included. These are buffet-style breakfasts located at their clubhouse. Everything was fine, it was similar to what you would get at a Holiday Inn or comparable. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We didn't try any other menu items that were offered though.
- Elk Viewing: The elk viewing and ride was AWESOME. Head to the grill and get a hot drink and a blanket. Hop on the open-air horse drawn coach, cover up with a blanket and listen to interesting and funny stories. The ride takes you...We had a group of six, three couples, and stayed at one of the chalets. It was also a "murder/mystery" weekend event. First, I'll cover the amenities, lodging and food....

- Elk Viewing: The elk viewing and ride was AWESOME. Head to the grill and get a hot drink and a blanket. Hop on the open-air horse drawn coach, cover up with a blanket and listen to interesting and funny stories. The ride takes you over the river and through the woods. You see various elk, segregated by age and sex. Very interesting. Trip takes about an hour and you end up at the cabin for the gourmet dinner.
- Gourmet Dinner: Holy cow, this is perfect! You walk into this large cabin situated in the woods. Large stone fireplace kicking out heat and the walls adorned with elk mounts and various other local wildlife. You are seated and given some complementary wine tasting and glasses of wine, coffee, hot chocolate or soft drinks. The semi-sweet reisling was good. We had a 5 course meal that was delectable. Shrimp, chicken soup, napa salad, pork roast and white chocolate mouse. Everything was wonderful! Staff was again very nice. The owner, jack, gave us an informative talk about elk antlers and also presented some information on a supplement that was made from elk antlers. There wasn't any available for purchase and it wasn't a high pressure sales. He merely mentioned it and anyone interested could pick up a brochure at the counter. From there, hop back on the carriage for a 10minute ride back to the lodge.
- Murder Mystery: If you're looking for some leisurely entertainment, then DON'T DO THIS!!! You arrive on Friday afternoon, get settled, then meet at the hall for a desert reception with cash bar. Being first time sleuths, our group did not have any expectations, nor did we know the in and outs of how this worked. At the start of the social, the cast of the murder mystery are mingling with the guests. The game starts immediately. Don't get upset if somebody starts trying to sell you land or accuse you of doing something. It's part of the game, talk to them, get clues! As the reception progresses, the game is explained. Ask questions at this time, it wasn't clear to us and we didn't quite understand the rules. Then you get to search the lodge rooms for clues. Basically, tear the place apart!!! I mean it, rip the covers off the phone, toss the beds, etc. Every scenario is different, but we had 3 murders to solve. Plan on having very little downtime. Most of ours was spent trying to figure out the murders and sleeping. It's a very active adventure! I will say that there were some elderly folks and a couple people with canes so they did alright. Your investigation needs to be completed and turned in at 11pm Saturday night. Sunday morning after breakfast, they reveal the answers and issue the prize vouchers.
Highlights: Friendly staff, beautiful scenery, elk ride, gourmet dinner.
We're planning a trip there for New Years Eve.More
