This is a destination hotel. I was on tour and first impressions count. It was nice to see a representative of the hotel personally welcome every member of my group as we entered. A table was set up with warm cookies and coffee, compliments of the hotel. Just what I needed to spur me on to the evening activities.
This hotel was larger than most Hampton Inns and fits my image of a resort hotel. Located in Holland Michigan, it is a perfect place to stay for the Holland Tulip Festival, or this year "The Stem Fest." The location is great but a car or transportation is necessary
Entering the lobby the next day I did a 360 turn, not seeing the breakfast area. The breakfast area is behind a set of large pane glass doors. The most complete breakfast area I have seen. The breakfast included two kinds of egg preparations as well as boiled eggs, waffle offerings, a large selection of fruit and rolls, juices, more than I could take in. Everything was kept well stocked and people were readily available to answer questions or direct people to different areas. The area was well lit and bright but with subdued and calming colors. The kind of atmosphere in which everyone is feeling well rested, enjoying themselves and anxious for the day to begin. Fellow travelers as well as employees have a "Good Morning!" when you enter.
I found a table in the "sun room" A glass enclosed area looking out over beautiful plantings of unusual ferns and Hostas. Need I say, " I enjoyed my breakfast." The plantings were below another wing of the hotel so the view from this wing would include a small garden area.
My room was over the parking lot but all of the rooms that I saw were designed to have a view of nature. The view from my window was of trees. It would seem as if great thought has been given to the placement of the landscape material.
The towel animal with glasses is a sweet little addition sitting on the bed. and I was happy for the large shower and bathroom area which was spotless. The person who decided that travelers for the most part need a bright large shower area as opposed to a bathtub gets my vote!!
I wasn't able to resist the beautiful pool area and found a two story high pool and hot tub and recreation area. The notice on the wall said the hot tub would accommodate 10 people but it seemed much larger than that. There is an adult only time but the area was never crowded the several times I used this area. There were children/teens playing games and having fun but this area is on another level still visible and there was plenty of space for everyone.
There was a car alarm that had been set off outside my room one evening . A quick call to the desk and magically it stopped after about another 5 minutes. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not but I waited about 20 minutes before I called the desk. Thank you so much as I could tell it may not have even been a Hampton guest's car as there were other hotels in the area.
This is a very pleasant, welcoming, accommodating area. I am going to return during the next Tulip Festival. The area was so beautiful and clean, I am not sorry I only saw the Stem Fest.
An aside, more than once I approached a child in "Dutch Costume" and received a shy smile pleasant and polite demeanor, giving me helpful information and advice. Holland Michigan you have reason to be proud of your children and teens and your beautiful clean city

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review and give us feedback on our property. We appreciate you and your tour group choosing to stay with us in Holland during your trip to "Stem Fest" this year. Our entire staff takes pride in providing everyone with the best possible guest experience when they stay with us by doing the little things like towel animals, greeting guests at breakfast, and keeping up our grounds. We look forward to your group staying with us again next year for what hopefully will be Tulip Time and not another "Stem Fest". Thank you again for taking the time to write us a review and I hope you have a great day!
