OK so it is not cheap but after mediocrity in other places this was a superb dining experience. Expect to shell out $120 with tip sans wine for two but as a dining experience away from the inevitable whitefish cooked 9 ways (I kid you not, one nearby restaurant offered that) this is worth every cent. Don't get me wrong, I LIKE whitefish and if you want to best smoked deal take a stroll to Carlson's just a short walk away. But the Riverside was a true delight. One had to have the ostrich!! Of course. Watch the lazy river and eat locally raised ostrich. Do NOT ask what the ostrich do in a North Michigan winter ?? Maybe they stick more than their head in the sand. I do not care. . Like the rest of our meal it was impeccable prepared and tasted as good as the presentation looked. All the meal was great, the staff intelligent and informed and ambience great. Even the manager/owner?? stopped to ponder what ostrich do in a cold winter. So we never got an answer to that. Great meal. Highly recommend it. Wonder about the ostrich in January though.
