I can honestly say this is one of the most relaxing, enjoyable holidays I have ever experienced!
The location in a small hamlet in the French countryside is enchanting with a nearby artist, free-range chickens and numerous pathways providing walks in every direction.
The hosts, Ian and Sara, were friendly and welcoming, eager to assist and socialise but never overstepping the boundaries so we felt we had the space to relax in the lovely seating areas they had built in both sun and shade. Their family is charming and we were delighted to have their little son take us on a guided tour to the neighbouring village where he goes to school - he even introduced us to his teacher at the market!
Food? Fantastic! We ate at Le Chevrefeuille each of the four evenings that Ian cooked while we were there and every meal was different and delicious - I didn't know the French custom is to eat the cheese course before the dessert but I forced myself to comply!!
The accommodation was really comfortable and fully equipped - we had our own little eating area outside where we breakfasted on the croissants Ian collected for us from the village. We struggled to leave the gardens and courtyard but it was worth the effort to see the local towns like Sarlat and Le Bugue, the caves with their prehistoric drawings, the markets, festivals, castles and rivers.
The more I recall, the more I yearn to go back! Thanks to Ian and Sara for letting us share their idyllic setting!
PS Sorry - no photos - we forgot our cameras but at least we've got the memories!
