I just returned from the Oak Ridge after being there for a conference [about 100-120 people] from noon Friday, over night, until noon on Saturday.

The rooms are excellent, but the key system (with credit card type magnetic strip) is frustrating because one has to find the precise speed at which the card must be swiped - picky, picky, no doubt.

The food is outstanding - tasty with good variety. The service, including front desk, lounge and wherever we had occasion to observe it, is impeccable. Having to park some distance from the front door involves some healthful walking or using the courteous bellman, valet services.

The directional signs leave something to be desired - a problem which an accomplished Sign consultant/company could solve simply and expeditiously.

One needs to look and think carefully to find anything of significance to critique. Overall, an excellent venue with a dramatic gas-fired fireplace topped with a gleaming chimney.

With the availability of places like the Oak Ridge, Minnesota's reputation as a destination of excellence will continue to grow.

On the advice of a friend, we purchased a week-end package at Oak Ridge. Our stay was fabulous, the package included dinner and breakfast. Our room must have been recently renovated as it looked like we were the first ones to stay in it. Our room had a great view over the lake. The staff were very friendly and went out of there way to make us feel special. We even had a table next to the incredible marble fireplace. The food was excellent, I had the rack of lamb and my wife had the stuffed chicken breast. We shared an unbelievable cheesecake with passion fruit carmel sauce. We had a lot to work off the next morning. I couldn't believe their gym and work out facilities-really state of the art (they have a great story about their equipment).
