While you pay more, the added quality can be worth the price. Balconys and picture windows add to the enjoyment of the lake. Rooms are large sized, clean, and beautifully decorated. Breakfast is excellent, with enough tables and serving areas to comfortably handle the crowds. Make your own 'smores' (graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmellows) in the evening as an added extra.

The Inn on Lake Superior was much more than I expected. It is definitely a family spot (I was here on business), with a large selection for the continental breakfast included in the price of the room. Nightly fixin's for smores made over the grills behind the hotel, overlooking Lake Superior.

The Lakewalk is a nice wooden boardwalk that runs along the side of Lake Superior. Very picturesque. Within walking distance of some good eateries, coffee shops, and novelty shops.

Make sure you check out the Dewitt Marketplace, Blue Note Cafe, Duluth Backpacking, Amazing Grace, Famous Dave's, Little Angie's Cantina & Grill, the Aerial Lift Bridge, and the Great Lakes Aquarium. Everything is within walking distance, but you can take a tour by horse and carriage, the Vista Fleet, or by rail car.

I was in Duluth in July 2007 for a business conference. The weather was great, ranged between 70s and 90s. The city is pretty, quaint and rustic, and seems to draw a significant tourist trade during the summer months.

The Duluth Airport is VERY small! You can typically request a shuttle from your hotel to pick you up or catch a cab (a few seem to sit outside at all hours). This hotel is about 20 mins from the Duluth Airport. The staff here was extremely accommodating and friendly. The hotel is kept very clean. Not luxurious, but definitely a good deal for the price!

I was very pleased with this hotel. They exceeded my expectations and I can be picky.
We stayed in a King Fireplace Lakeside Suite so we had a killer view of Lake Superior. A stones throw, it seemed.
The breakfast is AMAZING. I couldn't believe the amount of selection that was offered and, as an added bonus- it tasted good!
This hotel was very clean and the rooftop pool was a favorite of my three year old son. The indoor pool downstairs was really nice too, but more crowded. The hotel closes the pool at ten to children so adults-only is from 11-midnight, which I really thought was cool.

Wonderful hotel with comfortable beds. The view over looking the lake was spectacular. We had a queen suite with a balcony over looking the lake. The room was great with wonderful bedding. The breakfast was outstanding. You could sit and watch the boats come in on the lake. Breakfast included fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, sausage, pancakes, eggs, coffee and juices. I suggest booking a room with the lake view to get the most out of this wonderful hotel.

This was one of the top five places I've ever stayed. I got a great rate within a few days of checking in and went up for a day Memorial Day weekend. The site offers you a choice of lakeview, bridgeview, cityview, or poolview. We chose bridgeview and the view (although somewhat obstructed because of a beam) was pretty nice. We could see the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge, part of the harbor, and Canal Park from our room and balcony.

When we checked in, the front desk gave us a complimentary coffeecake. Although they were busy, they were welcoming.

The room was immaculate. It had a refrigerator (with FREE sodas and water bottles), plenty of table space to place things, and overall a lot of room and comfort.

The hotel had a pool, a sauna, and two hot tubs--one inside and one outside, on the roof--in Duluth that would be pretty attractive in most seasons. They also offered s'mores (every night) and barbecued hot dogs, although we did not partake in either.

The hotel was walking distance to most of Duluth's tourist attractions--Canal Park, the Lakewalk, the aquarium, DECC, etc. There were other hotels, a few restaurants, and many shops nearby as well.

This is a perfect place to experience a Duluth getaway--I don't see myself staying anywhere else up there ever again.
