My husband and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Eagan for one night in February 2007. We chose the hotel as it was near the airport, and also ran a free shuttle bus every half hour to the Mall of America.

When we arrived at the hotel on the free airport shuttle we were immediately checked in by the very friendly staff and went to our room, which was on the top floor of the hotel.

The room was a very nice size, with a huge bed and a really thick, soft duvet. It was probably the nicest bed I have ever slept in in a hotel! There was a sleep package which consisted of an eye mask, ear plugs and lavender linen water to help you sleep. I didn't use the eye mask or ear plugs as I can't really sleep with them in, but I used the linen water. There was also a cd to help you sleep in the room if you needed extra help dropping off!

I didn't really hear much noise from the planes at all, I did have the air conditioning on so maybe that drowned the sound out, but I certainly had no problem getting to sleep.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, it was great value for money and near to the airport and Mall of America.

We went to Mall of America, expecting to be there for 1 day. However, we decided to stay for 2 and had to find a hotel and that last minute. I remember seeing an ad for The Crowne Plaza advertising a free shuttle to Mall of America, so we tried here. We walked into a well decorated and clean lobby, complete with a concierge and bellboy. They have one of those revolving glass doors in the front. They actually had a room open on a Saturday night! They booked us in immediately and we went up to our room. I should mention here that the hotel is about 4 miles north of the mall, a very short drive and away from the hustle and bustle of the mall area.
We took the first of two elevators up to our room. It was very clean and smelled wonderful. It was also very well decorated with modern furnishings and two large beds with big heavy fluffy comforters. The TV was enclosed in a amoire type dresser and you could pay for internet access and Nintendo 64. Once I kicked my shoes off and sat on the bed, I found it very hard to get up. It was SO comfortable.
After a while we went to the pool. They have a nice pool but the water was pretty cold. They also have a hot tub and sauna. The hot tub was just amazing. They also have a nice workout room with several different machines to use.
In addition to this they have a lounge, "library" and resaurant that provides room service.. I did not go to the restaurant because it seemed a little pricey , however it was well decorated. The lounge was also nice and the bartender was stupendous. Excellent service although also a little pricey. They also provide a free shuttle to the Mall of America hourly and free shuttle to the airport every half hour.
We could see planes going right over the hotel roof about every 10 minutes, however I could not hear them at all, so they must have soundproof glass.

As for the night's sleep, we snuggled down under our fluffy clean comforters, put on the complimentary sleep CD after spraying the sheets with the aromatherapy spray, and drited off to sleep. They also provide free eye masks and ear plugs. It seems very important to them that you get a good night's sleep.
When we woke up in the morning, the Sunday paper was sitting outside our door. We went to check out and the front desk clerk asked how we slept, if we had any problems, and gave us some advice on the place we were going. Even though we were checking out, she offered to let us use the free shuttle for the rest of the day.
All in all, this was a great hotel and we will definitely be going back. I cannot believe that it was under $100 for 2 adults and 2 children on a Saturday night. Try it out- you'll be pleasantly suprised.

Sorry about the late review. Just now realized I hadn't done it. When you look up the word ironic in the dictionary, this hotel should be listed. Why? This Crowne Plaza has the new sleep system. Everything that will help you get a good nights sleep. The bed is the best I've ever felt in any hotel. (It helped that it was new) The irony is this hotel is DIRECTLY under a runway for MSP. Why they did this I don't know, unless its the new runway.

I can't agree with the previous poster. I believe the planes lasted until almost midnight and started at 6 A.M. In my opinion they are LOUD. My whole point of picking this hotel was to be near the airport and get a good nights sleep before a long trip to China. I got about 5-6 hours.

I complained to the manager and mentioned that guests should be warned about the noise, she asked why I didn't use the ear plugs. I told her I couldn't risk not hearing the wake-up call. In all fairness she credited me the one nights stay. So I cannot criticize the manager. I do think this is a hotel to stay away from though because of the noise.

I stayed here two nights for business in July. Was on the top floor and it was fairly noisy with airport noise. Also, it has the motel-6 style window air conditioning unit that is loud. I am a light sleeper and these keep me up, so that is the reason I am giving this an average. The hotel is nice and clean, however, and a good place to stay if you don't mind the noise.
