We went to Mall of America, expecting to be there for 1 day. However, we decided to stay for 2 and had to find a hotel and that last minute. I remember seeing an ad for The Crowne Plaza advertising a free shuttle to Mall of America, so we tried here. We walked into a well decorated and clean lobby, complete with a concierge and bellboy. They have one of those revolving glass doors in the front. They actually had a room open on a Saturday night! They booked us in immediately and we went up to our room. I should mention here that the hotel is about 4 miles north of the mall, a very short drive and away from the hustle and bustle of the mall area.
We took the first of two elevators up to our room. It was very clean and smelled wonderful. It was also very well decorated with modern furnishings and two large beds with big heavy fluffy comforters. The TV was enclosed in a amoire type dresser and you could pay for internet access and Nintendo 64. Once I kicked my shoes off and sat on the bed, I found it very hard to get up. It was SO comfortable.
After a while we went to the pool. They have a nice pool but the water was pretty cold. They also have a hot tub and sauna. The hot tub was just amazing. They also have a nice workout room with several different machines to use.
In addition to this they have a lounge, "library" and resaurant that provides room service.. I did not go to the restaurant because it seemed a little pricey , however it was well decorated. The lounge was also nice and the bartender was stupendous. Excellent service although also a little pricey. They also provide a free shuttle to the Mall of America hourly and free shuttle to the airport every half hour.
We could see planes going right over the hotel roof about every 10 minutes, however I could not hear them at all, so they must have soundproof glass.
As for the night's sleep, we snuggled down under our fluffy clean comforters, put on the complimentary sleep CD after spraying the sheets with the aromatherapy spray, and drited off to sleep. They also provide free eye masks and ear plugs. It seems very important to them that you get a good night's sleep.
When we woke up in the morning, the Sunday paper was sitting outside our door. We went to check out and the front desk clerk asked how we slept, if we had any problems, and gave us some advice on the place we were going. Even though we were checking out, she offered to let us use the free shuttle for the rest of the day.
All in all, this was a great hotel and we will definitely be going back. I cannot believe that it was under $100 for 2 adults and 2 children on a Saturday night. Try it out- you'll be pleasantly suprised.
