I just returned from a 4 night stay, over Mother's Day weekend, at the Mitchell-Tappen House B&B in Hibbing , Minnesota. My entire experience was wonderful and began with the friendly booking over the phone with Pam, the owner. After explaining I would be arriving very late, she kindly waited up for me and showed me to my room, the Oliver on the second floor. My room was lovely and tranquil in shades of pale blue and white. The king bed was very comfortable and the large room included a loveseat, by the tv/dvd/ (stocked with movies) in the antique armoire and a dining table and chairs by the windows of the turret. The attached bathroom was large, bright, like new and very clean. A hairdryer is supplied as well as shampoo/cond., shower gel, foaming bath and linen spray and even a toothbrush, in case you forgot yours!
The breakfasts were great! Each began, in the beautiful breakfast room, with coffee, juice ( I had mango-passion fruit -apple), a large fresh fruit plate with slices of melons and grapes. This was followed, on the various mornings, by quiche and bacon, waffles, blueberry syrup and sausage or baked Finnish pancake (loaded with raspberries!) and bacon, all generous and delicious.
The other rooms available to the guests, the living room and sunroom, are comfy, charming and a very nice place to sit and chat or just relax. Parking is free on the street in front, and you are within, walking distance of downtown, restaurants, the historic Hibbing High School and Bob Dylan's house.
I visit Hibbing yearly and have stayed at every hotel/motel in the area and this is "the" place to stay!
