“A Great Stay”

Hilton Minneapolis

I stayed for ten nights in the HIlton in June for vacation. I couldn't fault the hotel in any way at all. The room was spacious and the beds were the ultimate in comfort. The rooms were cleaned daily and the bedlinen changed every second day. The coffee maker in the room was a welcome addition.

The location is wonderful, just opposite Orchestra Hall and one block from Nicollet which is the main shopping area downtown. The light rail to the airport or the Mall of America is about 7 blocks walk - only about five minutes, and there is a wonderful walk along the Mississippi another couple of blocks away.

The staff were very efficient and friendly without being intrusive. Even though it is a very large hotel and had a major conference on while I was staying, there was no sense of just being another number. The breakfast in the hotel was great and the staff in the restaurant particularly friendly and helpful. Our waiter Tracy took the time each morning to chat and suggest places to visit and things to do.

I would definitely stay at the Hilton again on my next visit to Minneapolis.

I booked a room for a week at the Hilton for a convention I was attending.
This was my first visit to Minneapolis and I was very impressed. The Hilton is very convenient to the Nicolette Mall and within walking distance of almost everything in downtown, and is only a 10-15 minute walk to the light rail which got me to the airport in 20 minutes.
The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was very clean and, given the opportunity, I'd stay here again.

    • Disliked — Shipping/receiving was run through an outside company, not the Hilton.

“Overall, a very nice experience”

I stayed at this hotel for a convention that took place in the summer of 2008. On the whole, it was a very positive experience. First, the pros:
1. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had to call ahead because I actually arrived a day later than my reservation due to flight delays and cancellations. They were very accommodating. They also gave me clear directions to a nearby Verizon Wireless store when I realized I had forgotten my cell phone charger.
2. The room was quite clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable.
3. The housekeeping staff did a great job with the room and were very generous with the room amenities (towels, soap, shampoo, etc.)
4. The shower was clean and very comfortable.
5. I loved the pool and the hot tub in the fitness center.

There were a few minor cons which were not that big of a deal to me, but are worth mentioning:

1. While there was a continental-style, a la carte breakfast for us, when I asked for decaffienated tea, the staff looked at me like I had 5 heads. The next morning, however, they had some out.
2. Internet access is pricey. For the amount of time that I needed it, it was actually cheaper for me to do quick e-mail checks in the business center and pay for internet by the minute rather than the per-day fee they charge for the room.
3. Don't use the vending machines for bottled water. You pay $1.25 for the really tiny bottles. There are convenience stores nearby.

On the whole, I wouldn't mind staying here again. For the most part, I was treated well. Just as a sidenote, many people recommended the nearby Hell's Kitchen for breakfast. I went there and found it to be underwhelming. The bread used to make my French toast was lousy and it had an "oniony" aftertaste. The griddle must have been used to saute onions just before my French toast. The one time I ate breakfast in the hotel's restaurant, while I did find it to be kind of expensive, the quality was good.

I've stayed here twice over the past few years and have had a very good experience each time. Rooms are comfortable, clean and large. Beds are comfortable. Shower is good. Staff is Hilton quality. Location is good and the hotel is directly attached to the skyway. The fitness center is one of the better Hilton fitness centers that I've seen and has recently been revamped by Precor. All new equipment includes cardio machines, weight machines, dumbbells, a few pully stacks and an assortment of balls and medicine balls. Restaurant prices are high but so is the quality of the food. Parking is $12 a night.
