I had read the reviews and was expecting a great weekend trip for myself, my husband, and my daughter. Check-in at the hotel was fast and easy. The room was nice and clean. It was an average size room for a hotel. The first morning there, we went for the breakfast buffet at the hotel. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by the hostess saying "the buffet will be $8.99 for you adults and free for children." The buffet actually had less food on it than what you would get free at most hotel's continental breakfast buffet. The $8.99 did not include a drink. After eating the waitress asked the age of my daughter, who is 13. Then, we got the bill for the 3 of us to eat. Children are considered 12 and under...don't know why they didn't ask her age up front before they gave us a price. The tv didn't work in our room. We stayed gone a lot on the first day, so I waited until the 2nd day to call the front desk and ask if it could be fixed. It never got fixed. When paying upon check-out, I told the front desk clerk that the tv never got fixed. Her response was that we probably had the tv on the wrong channel for the satellite service they use. Why weren't we told this information on one of the 2 times that I called to report the tv not working on the previous day? Who knows? However, she did say that she'd have maintenance fix the tv before the room was rented again.
Overall the hotel is nice and the desk service was great. The tv issue did frustrate my husband, who would've preferred to stay in the room and watch tv rather than shop with the girls. Also, stay clear of the 4 or 5 item buffet. Just take advantage of the Waffle House next door or the Krispy Kreme a block or 2 away. There is an indoor pool at this hotel; however, it's a little small and stayed full while we were there. Therefore, we did our swimming at the beach.
