I chose this hotel because I'm an employee at a Comfort Suites in another town. I had high expectations before arriving at the hotel due to the fact that the employee rate (which is normally $35) was $55 for this hotel. The lady who checked us in was amazing. I cannot remember her first name, but she was fairly new and very sweet. I know the managers are able to see this, so I would like for her to be acknowledged. Her initials are CP (looking at my receipt; I don't want to post her last name.) She worked the 3-11 shift both nights of our stay. We was kind enough to print off a menu for us, remembered us during our stay, and made us feel special every time we walked by.
The hotel itself was fairly nice. The parking lot is terribly small and awkward. The lobby is lovely--a bit old fashioned, but charming. The chandelier was gorgeous. The lady at the desk mentioned they are planning to remodel. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why! I loved the wood arches and furniture. When we got to the floor our room was on, I realized why. The halls are enclosing, spooky, and outdated. The room was average as far as decorations are concerned--again, outdated. The couch was the ugliest thing I've ever seen, but the bed and desk chair were fantastic! Everyone always complains about Comfort Suites pillows--but they are the standard, required pillows. Our room was very, very clean. I even ran my finger along the top of the bed's headboard. Not a speck of dust! The hotel was not busy at all, so it was very quiet.
I attempted the hotel's breakfast our last morning there. I wanted to grab something on our way out. The biscuits were soggy. The pastries were a bit hard, stale. The juice seemed watered down. Very disappointing.
I stopped by the desk to checkout. Being an employee at a different Comfort Suites, I am well-aware that guests are supposed to receive express checkouts under their door. I did not get one, so I stopped by the desk. The girl asked if I got my receipt, and I told her no. I asked her if I could get a copy. She appeared to be looking up my folio. Rather than just saying, "Yeah sure!" and giving it to me, she said, "Well, you paid cash. Didn't you get a copy at check in?" I explained to her that I did, but it only shows the payment. It does not show the charges. I wanted an updated copy of my receipt (which is what I should have gotten under my door that morning, but no big deal. I knew I could get one at the desk.) Again, rather than just being friendly and providing me with my receipt, she mouthed "oooookay," sort of rolled her eyes, and sighed as if annoyed with me. This cold and unfriendly check out--which is the hotel's last chance to make an impression--really bothered me.
