I spent 2 weeks here with my boyfriend and I have nothing but amazing things to say... the service, hospitality and cleanliness were all first-rate, and it was very safe. Within 3 days, we were on a first name basis with most of the staff and had already met the owners. I have traveled throughout much of Europe and North America and this was one of the best vacation experiences I've ever had. From the moment we arrived and the manager, Belem showed us around and Cesar helped us with our surf board rentals, I knew we were in great hands. The staff is small and as such, very well-trained and very reliable. We needed help with a rental car and they took care of it for us. When we had questions, we were always able to get answers right away. We stayed in a beach front bungalow (which do not have A/C, but we did not want it) and we really enjoyed it. There are rooms with A/C though. The food at the hotel was great and the hotel facilities are very well-maintained. One thing worth noting is that wi-fi is still limited (only available in the restaurant/bar area) but many places down there do not even have wi-fi at all. Another note is that the surfing at this particular spot is more advanced than Sayulita (it is a left break off the point, and there are rocks) just as an FYI but I would recommend this resort to anyone going down to this area as Sayulita is only a 25-30 minute drive away. I think you would be hard-pressed to find a nicer setting in Troncones, and I doubt a more hospitable staff exists!!

Room tip: Bungalows do not have A/C, Wi-Fi is limited

This was our 4th trip to Troncones and our 2nd stay at the Inn and it was our best trip ever. We spent 8 days and it was perfect. The staff is top notch, and they go out their way to make sure all of your needs are taken care of.

We stayed in the "Surf-Check" bunglaw which I recommend since it is the one right in front of the ocean so you have a great view of the surfspot from the lanai. The room was really comfortable with a good bed and the celing fan and extra fan kept the room at a really nice temperature.

The food and drinks are great. The fish tacos, ribs and sashimi are awesome and we are still trying to figure out how they make these awesome little potato pancakes with breakfast. Margaritas (with their own tequila) down by the beach at sunset are a great way to finish the day and spend time with the other guests.

Not much nightlife at the Inn but the Hotel Eden a short walk up the beach has a great Friday night Salsa night that was really a blast.

There is great surfing right out in front but the break is a little sketchy for beginners. There are several great spots for beginners with a couple being walking distance and some world class breaks that are only about 20 - 30 minutes away.

All in all, it was a great trip and we are already making plans to come back.

Thanks Belem, Wynn, Michael and the rest of the staff for making the trip so enjoyable. See you next time.

This was our third trip to Troncones the first being in 2000 and our second trip to the Inn. I have to say that Manzanillo Bay is a little slice of Eden compared to the starkness of a lot of Troncones. The greenness of the properties on the bay make them much preferable to many other properties. Belem and the rest of the staff made our stay perfect. I would definitely recommend The Inn at Manzanillo for pure relaxation and look forward to returning.

Room tip: We stayed in the upstairs suites this time and preferred them to the bungalows.

Something like 9 of the 10 reviews from 2014 stays rate "The Inn" as a "5"; 1 rates it a "2". We had a very nice week-long stay in April 2014: we think there are enough limitations to this syle of facility (& the way it is executed) to make "5" a little over zealous, but to rate is less than "3" seems mean spirited. (If you're looking for the Kaanapali/Lahaina, in general, or the Kapalua Ritz, more specifically, you're not traveing to the right place. Troncones is a charming little town of less than 1000 residents/tourists.)

As indicated in my category-specific ratings, weI don't view The Inn as perfect execution, but it is quite enjoyable. Yes: the doors could close more easily; there could be more privacy; the hardware in the sinks could operate better; &, the food could be a bit more palatable to American tastes. All that having been said: the Inn's service was pretty good, the rooms were pretty good, we slept like rocks, & the setting is beautiful. Belem is a gem and makes the stay like being at home. In Troncones you can eat at Rufi's or Cafe Sol asa well as do the "spa" thing at Present Moments; all have pretty good food as does The Inn.

Other writers seem taken with Hacienda Eden; it is wonderful to sit in the bar at Eden to watch the sun set directly in the west, but the food, the prices, the remainder of the setting, the service were all pretty comparable to The Inn. To us The Inn was a more comfortable size & staff. We would definitely go back...

Room tip: 1 & 8 are nearest the beach.

My friend and I had heard that Troncones and the Inn at Manzanillo Bay would be the perfect place to relax for our vacation. It did not disappoint! The vibe is great - you feel no obligation to do anything except exactly what you want to do. For us, this included reading with a view of the ocean, eating the great food at the Inn, swimming, going for walks on the beach, wandering around town, taking some surf lessons, SUPing, and watching the surfers at Troncones point. It is truly a magical place - we even were lucky to witness a turtle release at sunset! Troncones is a great place to visit for people like us who don't like the contrived feel of all-inclusive resorts and prefer authentic people and experiences.

Belem, the manager at the Inn, is responsible for making our experience so amazing. She is incredibly friendly and welcoming, getting to know each of the guests and their needs. It was our first time in Troncones and she made us feel very comfortable. Our stay at the Inn would have been good regardless, but under Belem's care it was EXCEPTIONAL.

In addition to relaxing we were keen to try the surf in the area. We are beginners, but were able to find a great instructor (Mike at ASI surf - highly recommend - http://www.isamexico.com/) and a mellow spot to practice our skills.

There is also a great photographer in the area for hire - William Mertz (http://williammertz.photography/) who takes shots of surfers at all skill levels. He snapped some great pics of me and my friend trying out the waves at Saladita (a good spot for beginners). Highly recommend his services for anyone wanting surf or wedding pics.

Definitely will visit Troncones and the Inn at Manzanillo Bay again! Just not soon enough :)
