We had been looking forward to dining at 12 Baltimore for quite awhile, having walked by the restaurant on the street several times. I must say, the restaurant looks much more appealing from the outside.

For starters, the non-smoking section of the restaurant lacks charm and atmosphere. The non-smokers are stuck in the back, in a dressed-down room separated from the live music. To be fair, the main part of the restaurant/bar looks nice: wood paneling, candles on the tables, etc. I think it's unfortunate that almost all those appoitments were left out of the non-smokin area.

The food was a major disappointment. The menu selection, at least for dinner, is rather limited. We had the tequila-lime chicken wings as an appetizer, and they were dangerously undercooked. Our server was apologetic and removed them from our bill. I had a glazed chicken breast for my main course; it was a little overcooked and had very little flavor.

I have almost no desire to return to 12 Baltimore. Perhaps we were just unlucky and got a bad night, but the whole experience was rather unimpressive.
