This hotel was in a pretty good area, little restaurants and shops. It was an easy drive to the downtown area and shopping areas. The staff was very friendly. Parking was convenient. On the surface it looked good, nice decorating, nice beds, quiet.
But.... there were several things that needed help if you look past the outward appearance.
The cleaning needs to be stepped up a couple of notches. Carpets in the rooms and the public areas were not vacuumed around the edges or corners. There was a beautiful bouquet of flowers in the lobby but the vase was dirty and fhe water needed to be changed for the 3 days we were there.
The veneer on our bathroom door was coming off. There also was a hole in this door. Our shower rod was broke and the outside shower curtain was dirty as was the bathroom floor.
We were up on the 4th floor so it would have been nice to look out onto the street but there was white substance covering much of the window.
Generally, it was fine. But someone needs to pay attention to detail.

Right off the bat I was a little disappointed to get this hotel since I was aiming for something on the Plaza. Hotwire's Plaza zone extends up to 39th Street, so Westport is game for this area too. The area is not upscale like the Plaza, but it has a ton of restaurants, bars, and random shops. The younger college crowd is all about Westport. The Holiday Inn shares the parking lot with The Westport Flea Market Bar and Grill, which is a great dive and a KC staple.

As far as the hotel, it's a nice 2.5* place. It has undergone a major renovation (fall 2006 I believe) so everything is really new. The lobby is bright and new, and the breakfast area is great; plenty of seating with free newspapers and a big plasma to watch the latest death and destruction taking place on CNN. The free breakfast has waffles, bagels, cereal, yogurt, pastries, rolls, OJ, fruit, hard boiled eggs, and some other stuff I'm forgetting. Good spread.

We stayed in a King smoking room on the 6th floor. A bucket was in the hall catching melting snow dripping through the ceiling. The room well appointed and very new, although a little small. They obviously forgot to clean the bathroom floor, which I wiped up immediately because it was sick, but that was the only major complaint. Everything else was spotless. Free wireless internet was another bonus which was well-used. No nickle-and-diming at this place, everything is included.

Good place overall, and since we paid about half the normal rates thru Hotwire, it earned a thumbs up.

This hotel has been updated and has great service.. The front desk is very helpful. The rooms have new beds and quilts . The service at breakfast is great.
We travel on a national tennis circuit and stay at about 25 hotels a year. This hotel is way above average for the star rating it has. We will stay here again. I recommend it to every one that likes excellant service and comfortable beds.

We recently booked 2 rooms at this motel for ourselves and (adult) family members and found the place highly commendable. Both rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean. The bedding was "smooth" and perfectly comfortable, if not luxurious. We travel with a dog, which can be challenging, but the staff was welcoming and there were accommodating areas to walk the dog. We chose this location because it's a great area to eat, find entertainment, shop, and navigate from. Although we were in town on leisure, there were several business travelers staying here as well. The high-speed internet worked well. The "hot" breakfast consisted of several cold items and cinnamon rolls in a bun warmer; that fortunately wasn't our reason for staying here. All in all, we were highly satisfied and would be very likely to stay here on a return visit.
