I went to do research on my family history. And indeed, there was a cart full of files. The staf, upon the mention that I would like to see some files on my father, had a cart full of everything pertaining to him. What if I had decided to not drive across town in slushy weather?
Such kind good hearted, hospitible people in a beautiful reading room! The center of the room featured a large statue. There was art work in other places also in the high domed ceiling room with wooden tables and chairs, each with an antique reading lamp in the center.
I saw many files of newspaper photographs and letters, and read a whole folder of Civil War letters and a diary from that era up to 1910. None of it was under a glass case!
The question now is, do I give the museum my father's personal papers or give them to my nephew?
