I live in the neighborhood, and I want so much to love Jimmy's. But time after time (as I said, when will I ever learn?) the food has been awful and the service downright insulting. I was there last night for what turned out to be a very un-Happy Hour. The half-price appetizers are the draw, but they are so not worth it. We arrived at 5:15 pm (happy hour is 4:30-6:30 weekdays) and took an outdoor table on the sidewalk. We were ignored completely. After sitting there for 15 minutes without laying eyes on a server, I got up and went into the restaurant, where again there were no servers in sight. I asked the bartender if we could get someone to come out, and he snidely dismissed me with some explanation that they were all in the back getting information about the night's specials. No offer to send anyone. I went back to my table and waited some more, and finally a sever came out and turned AWAY from us. I waved her down eventually and she condescended to come over. I told her we'd been waiting for more than 15 minutes and again, no apologies, just a repeat of the same explanation--as though it was self-evident that we couldn't be waited on while all the servers were "in the back." I said, "The restaurant is open, you have customers, you really need to wait on us." She looked at me with complete disdain.
When we got our appetizers they were generic and unseasoned. The wine they thankfully couldn't ruin.
I will NEVER go back to Jimmy's. I'd rather get some frozen appetizers at Trader Joe's, heat them up in my kitchen, and take them to the park.
