Okay I was on the cowgirl week in Sept 2011.
The Group - Where fantastic. A mix of non riders and horse owners with all the gear and everything in between. The staff managed to make everyone feel like the ranch was there just for them. They also checked our riding ability before taking us out.
The food - Outstanding home cooked, hearty food. You couldn't go hungry. Special diets were catered for. Thanks Steph X
The rooms - Not flash but super clean with everything you could need.
The Horses - Fantastic. Clearly I had the bet horse in the stable, Toby! All the horses were keen, well cared for and certainly not the old school nags I am used to here in the UK.
The activities - The program is well thought out, included everything it said it would from archery to spa treatments to dance lessons, not forgetting the riding in the most amazing countryside and the cattle penning, oh and the barrel racing, camp fire singsong, wine tasting - have I forgotten anything?! All where fun but there was no pressure to join in if you didn't want to.
The staff - OUTSTANDING. I have come to expect a high standard of service when I visit the USA but at the bar w guest ranch the staff really do go that extra mile. They were always there, approachable and keen to please all the guests. Thanks guys x
The location - I had underestimated Whitefish, it is quite a trendy place and worth spending sometime exploring if you have a day at the end of your holiday. (although a little expense)
CONCLUSION - My first ranching experience so I have nothing to compare it to but it was magical. It is a considerable expense but worth it when you consider there are no add ons, unless you go mad in the little on site shop.
I have been to many places and stayed in some of the best hotels in the world. I have never, before this, put a review on tripadvisor (Although I always use it to research) I thought the bar w deserved the effort of writing a review. It was fabulous, the best holiday I have ever had.
I liked being in the main house (Tamarak) but it wasn't as quiet as being in the lodge. The adv...
