We just got home from the Imperial Palace last night - these thoughts are still fresh in my mind.

The rate that we got for our package (air/hotel) was very reasonable and we had stayed there before. I had no reason to believe that our experience would be any different this year. However, when we stepped off the elevator unto an upper floor, we encountered two very scruffy gentlemen, lounging in the small hallway - they didn't want the elevator, they were just loitering. We made our way to our room and they watched us - when we opened to the door to go back out about a half hour later, there was a hallway ashtray (the big, heavy kind filled with sand) blocking our exit. How odd we thought! Then when we returned from dinner, the big ashtray was back from where we had pushed it out of the way. We were two women (mother & daughter) by ourselves and this 'marking' of our room frightened us. We told security and after a hassle they changed our room to a different floor.

Unlike our last visit, our new room was very worn; the carpet was dirty, there were fingerprints all over the mirrors and sliders, every surface was sticky (like a toddler with a lollipop had been there) and the noise from the band that plays day and night was very stressful.
Plus, there were no blankets on the beds; the sheets just had a shabby bedspread thrown over them.

Then I found that the hairdryer didn't work. It took five calls to housekeeping and two whole days to get anyone to listen. They left a new one for us and we found the plug itself didn't work. (so all the hairdryer was good for was to ward off the thieves!)

I will not stay there again.... even though it is a very central location, there are other hotels on the same block that I will feel safer in.

This was our second trip to Vegas this Year we loved the location of this hotel. We enjoyed our stay so much we are returning in June. The rooms are small but clean, Our room overlooked the strip and the Harrahs street carnival, we enjoyed this so much we requested the same accomidations for June. The staff was so friendly and we enjoyed the classes they offer through the week to teach you how to play different table games. This gave me confidence to try the games instead of just playing the slots!!! WE ended up saving a fortune and having the best trip ever!!! You have to experience the Legends show they put on at the tables it is so much fun!!! we spent most of our time gambling at the Imperial Palace instead of moving around!! If you don't care about staying in a super fancy place this hotel is fun and clean and has the perfect location center strip. Thank you I.P !!! Emily Budt, Tecumseh,Ks

I was a bit apprehensive about the Imperial Palace, having read some very negative reviews as well as positive ones. Having just returned from a fantastic 4-night stay, I am at a loss to explain some of the complaints which raised my concerns. There is simply nothing wrong with the IP. Yes, it is not at the level of Bellagio or Caesars but neither does it cost $300.00 per night. The staff are friendly and helpful and the casino has a terrific atmosphere. The rooms are pretty basic but really are clean and well maintained. Our room was on the 18th floor and there was absolutlely no problem with slow elevators, as some reviewers indicate. We were on the Harrah's side of the hotel and you can hear the music from the outside stage. However, if you are going to Las Vegas for quiet solitude you should consider a different destination. The food at the IP was fine - we had an excellent meal at the rib restaurant; a fine New York strip steak perfectly prepared and served. If you want to spend your holiday with the super-rich, the IP is probably not for you. If you want a fun. reasonable hotel where everyone is welcomed, I highly recommend it. Since I had the best vacation of my life, I will return and woudn't think of staying anywhere else!

“I would definitely stay at the IP again!”

I've been to Vegas before and have stayed at New York, New York and MGM .. I decided to go with the Imperial Palace (IP) this time for a cheap, weekend getaway - and I would definitely stay there again. I was reading some of the other reviews on this site about the IP being a "seedy dump" and when they got there and realized the other choices - they were embarassed to say they stayed there. My question to these people is - dump your travel agent, because how could you not have known what the IP is all about!? Everyone knows that the IP is a no frills hotel located smack in the middle of the strip. It's no Bellagio or Mandalay Bay .. after all, how much did you pay (and save)!! The location is A+, the rooms are clean, the shower is AMAZING (so important when you travel!!) and it has all the basic amenities. We ate at the Emerald Buffet twice (located in the IP) and at Betty's - and thought the food was fine. If you spin the wheel outside of the hotel - you can win the buffet (valued at $10USD) for free! If you don't spin it the first time, go back later when someone else is working and spin again. Our entire group of 5 people all got the free buffet. Many other reviews commented on how slow the elevators were. Yes, you have to wait a bit - and the elevator tends to stop at almost every floor - but like I said, I've stayed at other nicer hotels in Vegas and I really didn't notice too much of a difference (it never really inconvenienced us) and we went on Valentine's weekend = the IP was booked solid!! There are 2 sets of elevators depending on where you are staying .. and at the main elevators, many people do not read the sign that there are 2 additional elevators on the other side!! In short, we had a really good time at the IP. While in Vegas, I highly recommend the dolphin park at the Mirage and do not miss the water show at the Belagio (outside). The new "Sirens of TI" show at Treasure Island was a big disappointment. Gone is the traditional pirate show that we all once loved. Right now - I am already checking out prices and trying to find a free weekend to go to Vegas again .. had a great time and can't wait to go back!! :-)

My husband and I spent the first week of February 2004 at the Imperial Palace. What can we say? If you're on a budget or just want extra dollars to plug into machines....then the Imperial Palace is the place to stay on the strip, excellent location.

We arrived three hours before check-in thinking we'd have quite a wait but we just walked up to the registration desk where we were waited on right away. We were given a choice as to a room facing the strip or pool side. We chose the pool view as we heard it could be quite noisy after midnight from Harrah's club in the courtyard on the strip side.
Our room was clean and very nicely located on the 5th floor. We never waited for more than a couple minutes for an elevator at any time.

We ate at the Tea House a couple times, the Pizza Palace once and grabbed many coffees from Betty's. No complaints.

We really were on the run taking in as many Las Vegas sites as we could in our seven days. Imperial Palace's location made site seeing an awesome experience as we were able to walk everywhere.

While in Las Vegas, we were able to see Celine Dion (what an incredible show) right across the street at Caesars Palace. We saw the Legends in Concert and took in the Car Show at the I.P. (I really enjoyed the Legends in Concert and my husband found the auto collection very interesting).

We played the slots and had no trouble finding machines side by side where we could quietly have a drink and rest our feet at the end of each day.

Check-out went as smoothly as check-in, no wait, no complications.

Would we go back to Imperial Palace? Without a doubt.
