We used our timeshare points from another resort and paid a little extra to stay at Flamingo Bay (which is not one of the properties we own). We weren't expecting much. Our first stay at one of our timeshare properties in Arizona was a huge disappointment - we just figured we made a bad investment and assumed all our accommodations in the future would be "so, so".... NOT SO! Wow! - this resort blew us away!... We stayed in a 2 BR villa in the back - facing the street... it was very very clean - even the jacuzzi tub sparkled (which is a rare thing)... it was indeed like being in a roomy apartment - lots of space, full kitchen - really really nice!...

We arrived just as the staff at the concierge desk was leaving for the day... she had her coat on and was ready to go - but slowed down, took her time and made us feel welcome as owners... we declined a tour and she graciously accepted our answer. (Next time we go - and we will be back - we'll take the tour for sure!)

My encounter with the front desk happened when I discovered our cork screw was broken (oh my! - now that is a crisis!)... we had a new cork screw delivered to our door within minutes!... checking out was a blast with the three ladies at the concierge desk - pleasant, fun, energetic!...

My only complaint??? - and the reason we initially did not take the tour??? no wireless internet connection available! - Huge issue for me! - I called in advance to find out so I wasn't suprised when we arrived. (I encountered the same thing at a Sunterra resort - but there they actually made owners PAY for time online - eeek!).... anyway - they say the new properties they are building will be wireless - so that's a good thing (I just hope they don't go the route of having guests/owners pay for it - hear me loud - not a good idea!)

Lovely place, lovely staff - no pressure on sales - we WILL be back!

  • Liked — the spaciousness - and cleanliness
  • Disliked — no wireless connection
  • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — rent a car if you're going to the strip!!! - it will make the difference in how your vacation goes

My husband and I stayed here for a week. The condo was spotless and very comfortable. The bathroom was fabulous!

Only two tiny complaints (that in no way diminish my positive review) - 1) there were no spices, not even salt and pepper, in the condo; 2) on check in you are required to speak to the concierge about booking shows and travel through Westgate. The woman that spoke to us was a total know-it-all and basically scolded us for booking through Expedia instead of booking all of our travel arrangements through her. yeah right. She did make the pitch for the time share thing, but you only have to say no and they don't ask you about it again.

Check out was a breeze. Even though the next time we travel to Vegas we will probably stay on the Strip, the Westgate was fantastic!

DINING TIP - Drive about 10 minutes to Cafe Mastrioni, 4250 S Rainbow Blvd #1007 (behind Baja Fresh). Fabulous local Italian place that is run by Pete Mastrioni. The food is great and the place is full of locals and laughter! We visited several times during our visit because the food was great and everyone there made us feel like we were part of their family. Thanks Pete!!

We got married in Vegas last February. The grounds are perfect for picture taking. Even in winter there were flowers blooming. The weather was warm and with the fountains and bridges over the stream running through the middle along with the flowers we have some beautiful wedding pictures. We had a nice one bedroom which was very quiet. Only problem we had was with the transportation system. They are supposed to drop off and pick you up at various locations along the strip. One nite we got stranded waiting for two hours for the shuttle which never showed. We ended up taking a taxi back to the resort. However when we complained in the morning we were reimbursed for the money we had to spend for the taxi. Office staff was very friendly and helpful. Would gladly stay here again even though it's 3 miles off the strip.

  • Liked — quiet
  • Disliked — Too many birds around and they don't clean the steps
  • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — ask for a room downstairs so you don't have to walk through bird droppings

This resort was extremely nice considering the cost. Despite the fact that it is located in the cesspool of American culture It was spacious, quiet and had peaceful surroundings. I would definitely have preferred that it was in some other city far from Las Vegas but if you have to go to Las Vegas due to a family occaison, as I did, I would highly recomend it.

My biggest complaint would be the mattress which had little support. Also the interiors had a tacky decor but in relation to how tacky some of the things in that city are it was somewhat sophisticated.

If for some reason I had to go back to that horrible excuse for a city and there was some reason that I had to be located right in the city itself I would definitely consider staying there again.

On a positive note, the areas outside of the city are extremely beautiful. The city itself is one giant suburban shopping mall with the most obnoxious one serving as a major attraction. If you are not looking forward to staying in Las Vegas you may want to look outside the city, perhaps in Boulder City, the only city in Nevada with a ban on gambling. This somehow creates a much nicer town.

beautiful grounds and landscaping. tastefully decorated with granite, leather couches and ceramic tile flooring. the one bedroom has plenty of room. I was here on business and the location was great!!

Only 2 concerns:

1) no internet access in the condo. you have to have dial up in your own computer and the fee to use the computer in the lobby was ridiculous!!! no wireless access on the premisis at all!!

2) the shower was gorgeous totally upgraded tile and everything until I looked down and saw large quanities of mold in all four corners.. gross!!!!

Overall it is a great place to stay for vacationing familes or couples or anyone that wants to get away for the weekend.

Try the dining delivery service (menu on the coffee table). the food is excellent!!! especially the eggplant parm.

  • Liked — interior decorations
  • Disliked — mold in shower and no internet/wireless access
  • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — great for a weekend get a way
